Re: Best video for Technique?

True, but perhaps our definition of "good" is different. It's easy to say to some poor soul in who-knows-where that there are good teachers around, but I disagree. I think there are way more bad...

Re: Best video for Technique?

I agree, but... Getting a good teacher is a lot easier said than done. There's a lot of really, really, bad teachers who have no business teaching this instrument. I daresay they can actually do...

Re: One handed drum roll

Or you can just wear a ridiculous tigger suit. Does he not want to be taken seriously by anyone above 15 years old? Maybe it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Stick with anything by Rabb. He...

Re: Awkward drum shop experience...

GC? I'll bet you a large sum of money that if you wait 3 weeks and go back, he won't be there. Their turnover is one of the highest of any industry. It's a revolving door of salespeople.

Re: Practising single strokes, I'm confused with information overload!

Re: Practising single strokes, I'm confused with information overload!

I own both discs. I couldn't agree more. Tommy's approach, and the whole "results" rather than "method" philosophy has done incredible things to get my brain out of my hands way. But, I also use...

Re: Which drum throne to buy?

I'm very hard on my judgement of thrones.

I prefer two above all others. The high end Yamaha, and the DW 9100. Both round top. I cannot STAND bicycle style. But that's just a personal...

Re: Over Practice?

As long as you aren't becoming obsessive about it (and it sounds as if you might be, I'm afraid) you should be fine.

Remember the story about the piano player who tried so hard to strengthen his...

Re: DVD / Book of Fills

I read it on his facebook page. I'm just telling you what I, or you, or anyone else can read. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's called GE 3 or something else because, if memory serves, he didn't say....

Re: cursed right foot...

Re: I Think A Lot Of People Misjudge Buddy Rich

Hear, hear! Well said and I agree. Adoring an icon is one thing, but to make it a fetish at the expense of others is quite another.

Re: Advanced song Tommy Igoe plays at the end of "Getting Started with Drums" DVD

That's a song called "Real Deal" from his record "New Ground". I bought it from his website awhile back and I can't recommend it highly enough. Every track is a friggin' killer. And how many CD's can...
