I don't know what sound you are after, but one thing
to take into consideration: the 3007 Sonor cannot be
tuned very high w/out loosing sustain... I cannot say
that it feel dead, but a bit...

My Saturn walnut/maple snare sound a lot like the full walnut
Black Panther snare from the sample of the Mapex website...
...but all the snares on the Mapex sample site are in my opinion
tuned...

Ok, when the "dead spot" in the center of the snare
become larger, (when tuning tighter), it's because the
snare is at it's limit before choking ???

Too bad I like that sound but I hate...

Ok, nevermind, I bought it ! For $175 !!
The pictures are from the seller... brand new !!
The paint have the same sparkles as my Sonor white
sparkles but in blue...

I like Sonor very much but the StarClassic is a better drum...

a bit of ring is normal... it's part of the sound of that snare...
...just use a moon gel and that's it... Ambassador coated
over 3 mil stock reso is very resonant and should sound
good... just...

Ok so I tought that my 10" tom was tuning good but I tuned
both heads to the same pitch and the reso is clear and sing
for verrrry long but the batter head (the bad bearing side) is ...

Ok, my 10" tom got less than perfect bearing edges (not totaly flat)
but it tunes perfectly each time I change head and sounds good...
Does it matter ??? I place it on a flat glass table...
