Re: Traveling Drumset

http://www.roland.com/products/en/TD-4KP/

There's an accessory bag to haul it around. I'm getting one. But before I travel with it I'm buying a hard case that'll fit it.

Re: should I jam with a big band???

dic quid gingiberi

Two pounds per ginger beer? That's highway robbery! :-P

Sorry. That's all I had to add.

Other than this: This gig sounds like a great opportunity for you to learn all...

Conditions - your instrument, your playing skills, whatever - are never perfect. If you put it off until some nebulous terms and...

Re: Is this suspicious?

Oh, I understand what y'all are saying. I marvel that someone would go to that sort of effort for $50. All I'm saying is we don't know the whole story. When it comes out he's a...

Re: Drummers that can't tune drums.

Get up and move out front. Let someone else hit your drums. Listen while taking mental notes. At least that's how I've always done it.

Really, what I'm getting at is overuse of...

Re: Drummers that can't tune drums.

I've known dozens of drummers over the years. Most of them could play circles around me. Most of them could tune, at least after a fashion.

I can count on one hand the number who could properly...

Re: Ain't no more fun...

I'm glad you've made the decision to quit.

First, that guy's a massive douche-cannon. Let him iron-fist his way into no ensemble. I'd like to hope he'd learn from the experience how NOT to deal...

Re: Is this suspicious?

If I had it and no longer used it, I'd sell it, too. I don't see the issue here, unless he's selling multiple copies, of which there is precisely ZERO evidence yet given in this thread. There's no...

Re: I Play Better When I Donít Practice

I wonder if you're not getting into your own head. DrWatso, even though he has the opposite reaction, points that out. If he doesn't practice, he feels like he's not 100%. What might be happening is...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

It's such a common error by now that I don't think it makes much of a difference anymore.

It still drives my bonkers.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

For Sale or Trade:

20" Zildjian Z Power Smash.

Reasonable condition. There are some green spots. It came that way as part of a package deal, and I've never cleaned it.

$125 OBO or trade for...

Re: How Far for a Paid Gig will you travel?

I used to drive 1.5 hours to work and 1.5 hours home again. An hour's drive to do something fun wouldn't even register on my consciousness.

Of course, these days I live on an island that's 28...

Not happening here. Then again, I run AdBlock Plus, a chrome addon which removes all ad content from sites like this.

Re: When you're in charge, which songs ...

Nickelback should be erased from history. That's a start.

Rap is to music as an Etch-a-Sketch is to art, so excluding it makes no sense.

Otherwise, I'm with wossname who opined that it's a...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

This combines two opinions of mine.

First, I agree that players who don't have a deal but have a slavish devotion to one brand or another are shooting themselves in the foot. Not just shooting...

Re: xylophone beginners questions

I think you'll be much more satisfied with your guitar around a campfire than a melodic percussion instrument.

First, there is a significant investment in building the skills necessary to...

Re: Putting together a high mobile kit for an acoustic guitar group

This might be a stupid and/or unpopular question. Here goes, anyway.

Who wants percussion? The other players? Or just you?

I do the same sort of jam. They didn't want anything more than egg...

Re: Shoes with Elastic Bands: Yes or No?

Used to be Chucks. These days I'm often barefoot. Come on, I live on a Caribbean island. B-)

Just as often, these:

Re: Part source help

I don't plan to recover it. The poplar is actually quite nice, so I'm refinishing with teak oil. :)

If I planned to recover the kit, I'd definitely do what you advise, however.

Thanks, dude!...

Part source help

I'm in the process of removing the hardware from my kit (http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1285422&postcount=692) so I can get the awful red wrap off it and refinish the drums.

Re: What drummers need for a gig

What they said, especially on the odds and sods - springs, felts, washers, tension rods, etc.

One thing you might find useful is the barrel of a disposable Bic pen, the kind with a cap. Like...
