Re: Those of you who have "sound proofed" a room for your drums...

Greenglue is an amazing product. I created a platform with 2 plies of wood with green glue in the middle and it fixed my vibration problems to the bottom floor

Re: Back pain while drumming

The problem is the posture, and that's what Alexander Technique teaches you, how to fix your posture whilst at the drumkit

Re: Back pain while drumming

I've said this before in this forum. I will highly advise you to take some Alexander Technique lessons, if possible with a person that works with musicians and you're problems will be gone.

Re: Tama Starclassics!

The Tama Starclassics are too cheap for how good they are, so I say it's a good deal provided it's a Maple set

Re: Bass vs. drums challenge video - released here first :)

To be honest I was kind of dissapointed with LDS last year. It was claustrophobic to say the least and a huge mess. Really the one and only good stand was the guru one

Re: Couple of questions on how best to practice for speed

It is not. First of all there is no concept of throwing the stick and catching it up in the air as the freestroke suggests. The analogy Murray did was: when you are walking you don't stop with a foot...

Re: The "I wish I hadn't opened my big mouth" thread ;)

You don't need to be close, you need to be you. One very important thing: whenever you're playing just be yourself, don't try to overplay just because the audience is composed by drummers. Good...

Re: The "I wish I hadn't opened my big mouth" thread ;)

You can do it Andy! Nothing virtuoso here, only plain groove, you're good at it :)

Re: Pearl Masters Custom Maple

Most important of it all: Check for the bearing edges evenness and roundness

Re: Recording Compared to Playing Live

We definitely are going through a phase most drummers play all songs using ghost notes. I remeber when I went to school and we had to play a motown tune, the teacher killed me on the spot for using...

Re: 10.000 hours of practice is not the magic number

I don't really agree about that. I believe it's really important to track it down and count how much you practiced. Also, not sure for you but surely for me it's way more fun to practice songs than...

Re: The best kits we've ever made - Honest Capture videos!

It's a shame we cannot witness the walnut in more "regular" sizes. Would be great for comparison

Re: The best kits we've ever made - Honest Capture videos!

Same for me, I'm torned between the origin and the in-tense ash, they both sound so nice. I agree the origin sounds very musical, but seems to me the in-tense ash is more versatile.

To be honest...

Re: Bass vs. drums challenge video - released here first :)

For the Walnut is way too fat, but I can understand the interest in it. I blends so well with the snare which is also tuned low.

Anyway, loved David's kit and overall all top players. Definitely...

Amazing! Omg I'm in love with the segmented kit. What punchyness, unbelievable... What snare was David playing?

Re: Couple of questions on how best to practice for speed

No, no, no! That's completely wrong! Murray Spivack is about the grip, but above all a methodology to help you improve. I for once have never improved so much in such a short amount of time

Re: Couple of questions on how best to practice for speed

So far what is worked best for me is using the Murray Spivack technique and work both on slow and fast tempos:

So 8 clicks of 16th notes followed by 8 clicks of 8th notes, this way your body never...

Re: Good exercises for two-handed hi-hat beats?

Why exactly you don't do it very well? Is maintaining the groove? In the end it's all about single strokes in the hi-hat, so are your single strokes good?
