Re: What's your latest purchase?

It may have been painted for a reason - like it was badly pitted or something.
You could try stripping it, but then you might also end up waningt to remove what's underneath the paint, which can...

Re: shall i trade

Sounds iffy. Someone punched it so hard they dented the batter head.

He might need an itty-bitty, little bass drum for his stage custom. It doesn't sound like he checked into the stages sizes.

[/COLOR]

So.... is the 13 a tom or a snare? I don't think Yamaha makes a 13" stage custom snare.
10, 12, and 14 AFAIK.

That's the kit in this post, right?: http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=759238&postcount=1

Nice looking stuff. Is that Black Sparkle a lighter color like that?
On my laptop it...

Re: Help with color choice

Looks pretty good. It always looks better when you get the hardware back on.

You might have a nice sounding set with a small investment of time and money.

Re: PEARL Back for 2014

I posted about this a couple months ago: http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118226&highlight=crystal+beat

They look pretty neat.

Someone linked to a set called spotlight or...

Re: Mapex M birch or Tama Silverstar Laquer

Ya - probably more alike than different. They're both birch, but the Tama has a different outer layer.
But even if they're kind of the same, sometimes if you see something that really hits you, you...

Re: Talking salespeople down in price

Stores and their sales have warped everyone's perception of prices.
Particularly things like Black Friday.
You scoop up what you think are super deals, because price points are normally way...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Looks good. Do you always keep your tom mounts upside down like that?

I think the claws/rods/lugs and other hardware are where the major portion of the up charge for higher tiers comes in.

Re: Yamaha snare sound?

I get that.

I was responding to Monkey_Relish's post. I should have quoted him.

I had three 14" Stage Custom snares which all had a nice ring to them. I've got a Yamaha Musashi snare and that...

Re: Yamaha snare sound?

A different head will do more for you. If you're looking to kill the ringing, try something like an HD Dry. It'll also deaden the drum too though.

If you don't want to go that drastic, try some...

Move your wrist and keep your fingers still.

Now move your fingers and keep your wrist still.

Connected yes. But independent movement is also possible.

Re: Help with color choice

Wood absorbs the stain. BGH is right that the wood has already absorbed the clear.
A clear coat might not darken up the wood at all, depending on how porous it is.
Usually pick a stain that's close...

Where have all the Bop Kit threads gone?

Ha ha.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but someone started a thread yesterday about bop kits.
Bo, myself, and a few others had posts in it, but now it's gone.

I know people can sometimes...

Re: Yamaha snare sound?

I think the Stage Custom Birch snares are really good. I've got a few of them. Yes - they're ringy, but they have such a sweet ring to them.
With an O ring on it, you can damp out most of the...

Re: Talking salespeople down in price

Ya - when it comes to used stuff and there's a 'best offer' or something similar, it says to me they want to play the game, so I'll go along with it a bit.
I always have a highest amount I'm willing...
