Re: Black Beauty Head Selection?

Congrats on getting a legend. It's a marvelous snare. I was running stock wires, Amb hazy and Amb CS reverse dot. All kinds of pop and crack at a medium high tuning, which gives a delicate stick...

Re: Copper Phonic Video Demo

Tomorrow at this time, one will be on my snare stand and I'll be using my own ears on it. I might give a quick review. Maybe put to rest some speculation.

Re: First CopperPhonic retail sale?

That's a distinct possibility. I feel very fortunate to be able to find out.

Just confirmed payment and shipment. Should have in two days.

Anybody need a 402? lmao

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

I'm one email away from getting one. Uli is my hook up.

This will be my forever snare. I loved my Black Beauty but tired of the brassy tone after 7 years. The current 402 is a lovely snare but...

Re: Sonor Select Force Jungle vs. PDP Concept Maple experience

Any updates?

Mine is taking a break this week. I'm very happy with the kick now and that Martini snare is a real honey. I'm thinking about getting 3 straight single braced stands for this kit as...

Re: Buyers Remorse ?

When I was in the music store business, I always tried to encourage parents to buy the best quality gear they could afford. Nothing un-inspires like cheap gear. How can you expect a child (or person...

Re: No Respect

I've asked or had the other three members in my band sit behind my kit for a "sound check". I ask them to play hard and hit like I would. The fumbling, limp-wristed attempts at playing a beat are all...

Re: Sonor Select Force Jungle vs. PDP Concept Maple experience

Glad to hear you're liking it. Can I take credit for the purchase? haha

I found much the same with mine. The soundguy Wed night hated the kick. I solved the issue with a 4!! inch port, a Weckl...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Thanks kwa. It should be a great time. It's a United Way event.

And it just got better thanks to the kind and gentle FedEx lady!

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

I decided to try a PS3 clear for the batter. Since these are my batter heads of choice on the Keystone, this head will be used either way.

It has a much smaller underlay ring, which I correctly...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

That kit looks great in maple! They are sweet.

I made one mistake in a reply about the tom mount. It is in fact bolted through the shell on the rubber 3rd point. I never even noticed. My...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Be sure to post pics!

I just bought the 5X12 Martini snare for this kit. Looks like one of the 'superstores' had sold a Martini sans the snare so I scooped it up for a song. It's just a plain...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

In my gig report, I mentioned it was too boomy. So I ordered 2" ports installed one last night. It seemed to help. I play tonight outside, so I'm anxious to see how it goes.

I'll report back...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Just resting. It's a very rigid mount. It's like a DW STM but reminds me more of the Ayotte mount behind the lug. This little drum just sings so I know Sonor got it right.

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Live report: It worked great. The toms are fantastic. I need a 5X12 snare.
The bass drum was too boomy so I'll need to port it. I'm going to try a 2" port and see if that tames it some. We used our...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Single ply Remo Sonor UT Chinese heads with a stripe and light felt muffling around the edges. The 'bass' drum heads have a very wide underlay and feel 2 ply but I think they're just 14mil or...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

I got it at 9:04 this morning. Unboxed and set up in about 20 minutes.

It's soooo tiny. I love it. The finish is far, far better with the naked eye. The hardware is typical German; solid and well...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Yeah, I will. The sale confirmation came through right away. The tracking info came through late last night. So far, so good.

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Tracking shows I should have it tomorrow morning. If this is true, I would have to give AMS 5 gold stars.

Now the question is whether I should take it to my gig tomorrow night.

Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

I've been >< this close to pulling the trigger on a Safari kit for many years and lately I've decided that having this option for acoustic gigs or low volume is finally viable. This would coincide...

Re: Tricks for faster set up

They are the Mic Eze-type clips with Audix D series. They pop off together and each goes into its own pouch (that comes with the mics).

I use the top pull-out tray of my old trap case for mics and...

Kelly Shu helps A LOT!

Clip on mics that I also just remove and put in the pouch, clip and all.

Old fashioned trap case with tray for mics, cables, extra heads and percussion. I keep my IEM in...
