Re: Vintage Ludwig Bass Drum (Era?)

Well, it was actually the rail consolette that made me think it was Ludwig (the consolette clearly has the Ludwig engraving. But I guess that was an add on..!

Re: Vintage Ludwig Bass Drum (Era?)

Interesting; they have white Ludwig heads on them and the hardware on the bass drum for mounting a tom clearly says Ludwig (I'll post a picture of it later!)

The drums themselves may be something...

Vintage Ludwig Bass Drum (Era?)

I was at a yard sale and found this vintage Ludwig bass drum along with a floor tom. They are in pretty shabby condition, but I was trying to figure out what era they're from.. my guess is mid to...

Here it is all completed:

New bottom hardware (from a 1976 Ludwig) for the 12", 13", 16"
New outer hoop in same finish (from a '70's Ludwig)
New claws & t-rods for the bass drum hoop (from a...

Can a warped drum be fixed?

I have a 1976 Ludwig floor tom that I just got the bottom hardware for, and it's clear the drum is slightly warped.

The resonant head will not sit on the drum!

What can I do?!

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

Bloody hell...

So, my rims & lugs come in today. I took the 12" drum, had a resonant head, put it on - No problem! Didn't have a 13" reso so I went to the 16"...

The drum must be warped. The...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

Here's a thought... instead of trying to buy a whole new mount plate... (because I've already gone way over budget getting the rims/lugs/claws/hoops/etc...) Would a 1" memory lock be strong enough to...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

Here is a photo of the hole; the tom mount is about half an inch smaller than the hole... am I missing something other than the metal plate?

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

I have another question:

With my double tom mount hardware - I am missing the rubber grommet (or what ever the f* it is?!) inside of my bass drum - Where can I get the correct, or, comparable...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

I personally love the look of mach lugs!

Out of curiosity, what are you selling the chrome kit for? (Ballpark)

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

That dawn/water solution sure did work great! Cleaned up the drums - they were in much need of it and the hardware as well; the tin-foil was great for getting residue out of the rims and grooves in...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

@Tamadrm -

I did miss your first post! That's extremely helpful!!

Makes sense! Too bad I never got the "super-sensitive" snare to come with the kit. I also never got bottom hard-ware, or the...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

The lugs on my drums are Mach 5's? What does that mean - it doesn't seem much different than a "split" lug ... or is that just about aesthetics?

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

Just to clarify; the sizes are 22x14, 12x9, 13x10, 16x16 !!
They're 3 ply maple with reinforcement ring. From 1976 according to the serial number!

I am looking for an outer wood hoop with that...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

Thanks for your post!

Yea, online research has led me to believe 1976 is the year. That is also the year that they switched from 3 ply to 6 ply... so I don't know what mine are!

It appears to...

Re: Vintage (70's?) Ludwig Kit!

I've now come across the 7 digit # on my kit... what do those numbers on the Ludwig badge mean?

& now to answer my own question with an answer from Google - I can confirm this is a 1976 Ludwig...

Re: What kind of Congas are these?

Thanks a lot for the comment; for me, it's mostly for fun & trying to work on hand technique. I'm a drummer in a modern rock band anyway - so practical application is unlikely haha! Anyway, they...

As to say this is not the original covering? What makes you say that? (Again I didn't own it originally.. so it's very possible)

PS It has definitely been cleaned since these photos were taken -...

What's it worth?!

Hello Drummers!

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure as to what this is worth?

It's a 9"x13" vintage Rogers tom - it's in very, very good condition!

It was given to me by a friend who was...

Hey all,

So - I've been drumming seriously for about 6 years now.. but a hindering factor to my playing is my right fulcrum. When I want to speed up my playing it is my right hand that has put up...
