Re: Hi hats and air lock, no luck.

That makes sense to me. Trying to compress air creates pressure.
Seems like there would have to be very tight tolerances, and the hats would have to hit completely flat around the whole outside...

Re: Hi hats and air lock, no luck.

So - basically, too much air resistance when closing the pedal.
Never experienced that with any of my hats, or any of the cymbals I've paired together to use as hats.
Watch - it'll happen...

Re: Hi hats and air lock, no luck.

When you say air lock, do you mean that you can lift your foot off the pedal and the hats stay together?

Re: Yamaha Drums

It's possible it was something else.
And leak is too strong of a term. It looked more like seeped, or weeped. Minor enough that most people probably wouldn't even notice it.

Seems impossible...

Re: Yamaha Drums

This one doesn't seem like too bad of a deal either: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Absolute-Hybrid-Maple-4pc-Drum-Set-Shell-Pack-in-Polar-White-Finish-/351138905071?pt=US_Drums&hash=item51c1827bef...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Something seems a little odd about that listing.
In the heading, it says it comes with Zildjian cymbals, but there's no mention of them in the item description.

Re: Have to choose between three kits

Some people like the older Stage Customs better. What sizes are they?
I've got some used stuff I've been real happy with.
Post a picture or two if you get a chance. And enjoy your new drums.

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

I have the exactly correct number of drums and cymbals to maximize my creativity.

How about you guys?

Re: Have to choose between three kits

I have Stage Customs, so I'm kind of biased towards them. But any of the kits you've listed would do.
Maybe after you decide which one you'd like best, you could look for a used kit that's in good...

Re: Looking for help choosing a pro level drum kit

Ya - I'm a joker. LOL

Was just trying to get a sense of where you're coming from. Kind of hard to do on a forum.
Anyways - there's lots of higher end kits to consider.
Although I have...

Re: Looking for help choosing a pro level drum kit

Just curious if there's some reason why you couldn't use those.

Everyone wants a nice high end kit, but maybe you could work on finishing school first, and then get the expensive kit when those...

Re: Looking for solid value kit on a $1500-$1700 budget.

Maybe they've got Canada blocked - ha ha.

I can still see them from here.

Don't you have some similar stores there that sell used stuff?
You can usually tell if stuff is in good shape and...

Re: Looking for solid value kit on a $1500-$1700 budget.

This should probably be some kind of sticky. Seems like it comes up almost every day - what kit should I buy?

On a budget - used mid range kit and used pro level cymbals.

Re: Looking for solid value kit on a $1500-$1700 budget.

IMO - the third and fourth kits are way overpriced, with the 4th one bordering on ridiculous.
The third one looks like you're getting a lot, but the cymbals are entry level, and you'd probably be...

Re: Intermediate drum set advice

Check the second link in the post above yours.

Medium Thin crashes instead of Fast Crashes, but some people prefer them.

Re: I need help picking a drumset!

Lots of good advice given already.

I'm just chiming in to say that I'm also a fan of 5 piece kits.
But liking a certain number of drums isn't an upgrade - it's just a personal preference.

Re: All you Pearl experts ...

Not a Pearl expert, but....

If it's the 10" snare - it's kind of a specialty. Good as a side snare, or for certain genres, but it's probably not something you'd want to use as a main snare.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
