Re: Beginner Drum Building

Thanks for all the advice! I will definitely be very cautious and try to think more in the present and near future. I've gotten some good ideas to stand out from the crowd if I really get into this...

Re: Beginner Drum Building

Thanks, Drumsinhisheart.

1. I would definitely want to do custom finishes, but I would try to set things up where a buyer could choose their finish. Or, I would make a drum that wouldn't be...

Re: Beginner Drum Building

Nope. I figure making stave shells would be tedious but not impossible. I've got a friend that can help me.

Beginner Drum Building

I've had the dream to build drums and sell them, then make a few for my self for a while now. I would want to even make hardware myself, but it'll be a long time before I could do that.

Assuming I...

Re: Where Do You Fit? - Poll

I used to only want to be a hobbyist, but then I later started getting into bands. So now I'm a student that gigs with a band, possibly two soon.

Re: Which is harder to play - drums or guitar?!

I'd say the only real difference that would make drums "harder to play" would be the demanding physical aspect of it and the possibility of soreness and injuries which would not be possible while...

Re: Strangest gigs

Man that sucks. I once played a place where there was almost no crowd to begin with, and the majority of the crowd was the other two bands and the staff. haha Lots of mistakes but I got through it,...

Re: Do your drums really need to sound good if they're going through a PA?

I think so, just to be safe. I mean, it wouldn't hurt. Yeah, the good sound guys will use gates, compression, eq, etc. with expertise, but that's just to make the drums work better in amplified...

Strangest gigs

What's the strangest gig you've played? It could be the location, the people, the building you were in, etc.

I'm wondering what kind of out-of-the-ordinary places I could have my band play.

Re: Are Drummers (Generally) Crazy?

Absolutely insane. I will never doubt that you're a drummer! haha

And what you posted is interesting, Roger. It seems to be a bit tongue-in-cheek but also something not entirely exclusive to...

Are Drummers (Generally) Crazy?

I've read some rumors, and I've read more than a few experiences some drummers would use as evidence for being "crazy." I believe I'm a little crazier than the average person, so there's a +1 to the...

Re: Drummer uses 4 bass drums

It seems so. The one on the left apparently has no mics in it, probably no pedal either.

That's insane! I hope they're props, and not real. What's next? Cymbals set up out of reach just for...

Re: Tricks for getting interesting sounds out of your drums

I can't believe this topic died so fast.

I used to do rimshots nonstop when I first learned how to get it right every time. One thing I started to do was hit nearer to the tip and then, while...

Re: Horrible waste of an Acrolite

A piece (pieces) of history ruined forever. :( Might as well buy a vintage guitar and drill holes in it to stick it to another creepy robot.
