Re: Drum throne height mechanics back pain

Good vid.

For whatever reason, I see it a lot in shorter drummers that they put their seat too low... It's like they assume because they're shorter that the throne should be. I try to tell them...

Re: advise with advice

Pins are also pre-muffled and it sounds like he wants to get away from that.

I'd second G2 over G1 as my advice. Or even G1 over G1 if we're really looking for a nice open sound.

Re: What killed off Slingerland?

It was an asteroid. It kicked so much dust and particulate into the air that the climate and life changed forever, the Slingerlands couldn't survive and today we have only distant evolutionary...

Re: Neck pain from looking at music stand

I find that it my high tom makes a pretty good music stand when it starts hurting to turn my neck. It's right in front and close... I can't use the high tom very well when it's like that but really,...

Re: The gig that you turned down, and it's a good thing you did!

That's not downtown, unless it moved.

Granted, I've been a vegetarian for like 10 years now, so it was a while ago I went through that spot.

Still remember it. Amazing BBQ... But I remember it...

Re: The gig that you turned down and regretted it

Let's just say there's a lot of water between us and apparently punks don't like to swim.

California. We got punks, but it's one in a crowd of a hundred. What we really got is hipsters, which is...

Re: Heel Spurs/Plantar Fasciitis?

Thanks again, I've looked it up but it seems everyone has a different opinion about it. For you personally what treatments did you attempt or what worked?

I've also come to the conclusion...

Re: The gig that you turned down, and it's a good thing you did!

I've said no to a whole bunch of gigs I'm glad I wasn't there for. Only happened in reverse a few times where I wish we had taken a gig.

Or do you mean band, opposite your other thread?

Re: The gig that you turned down and regretted it

One time I tried out for a couple of local guys I knew regarding a punk rock project they wanted to start. At the time I was also trying out for a slightly less local indie rock project.

Both of...

Re: Heel Spurs/Plantar Fasciitis?

I also have occasional numbness in the toes, and as well I have soreness/pain in the ball of both feet, right where the toe connects to the foot at the joint; feels like I bruised it or something......

Re: Instrument infatuation

Is this just a thread so you can try to justify the gross things you do to those Gurus?

Re: Sound blending or replacement

Playing and recording music getting you down? Finding that it's way too much work to play your instruments correctly or just don't have any talent at playing music? Don't like how your "bass drops"...

Re: Sound blending or replacement

Singer not quite able to hit the right notes? Singer deciding that the key the song is in doesn't quite match how they want to sing? Got a lazy engineer who is tired of vocal takes? Sound like way...

Re: Sound blending or replacement

Not able to get your recording exactly how you want? Not a fan of actual work and study to understand sound and recording? Too lazy to mix unless you have full separation of every sound? Weird...

Re: Sound blending or replacement

I 100% think you should do whatever you need to do to get that sound in your head. It's only when it gets pushed on someone I'm not comfortable with it. I know of several threads on this forum...

Re: Sound blending or replacement

I guess I'm just glad I don't play metal. Apparently not having your own drum sounds is the actual norm there. It's like I'm in a weird alter-world and some of the back-flips people do to justify...

Re: Sound blending or replacement

It's complete nonsense and another example of how digital perfection gets coveted at the expense of life in the recordings. It's a way for bad engineers to come up with "drum tracks" that sound...

Re: Playing in multiple bands

Now that's a good idea.

Being stuck to pre-programmed fills is extremely limiting and people notice faster than you might assume.

Best advice for someone who wants music to be their living, which is what the OP stated.

Re: History of brushes and brush playing...

Not exactly the "history" of brush playing... But this is my favorite ted talk and it includes brushes the whole time. Captivating and inspiring.
