Re: Playing More Musically

People can tell you how they did it, but it's the same for everyone: it comes from within(read: practice). The best drumming in my humble opinion comes from those who, in the context of music, feel...

Re: Good stuff to practice

I'd recommend the book "Syncopation for the Modern Drummer." for a good foundation in independence and control. It basically gives you simple rhythms, and you transpose the rhythms to your left hand...

Re: Consistent Rimshots

YES! YES! YES! someone who feels the pain.

About getting consistent rimshots, the more familiar you are with your drums, the more 'consistent' your rimshots will be. The tape measure idea wasn't...

Re: Mapex Mars Series, Need Help Soon

It's a good deal. Go hit it, see what it sounds like.

If you don't like it, you can sell all the piece individually and make about $1000.

This is an incredibly interesting question that I have tackled many times.

As a preface I'd like to point out that I'm 16 years old: my opinions are not those of a sage!

Re: Is ddrum really as bad as people say?

Unless you're willing to spend upwards of $1200, DDrum makes wooden jokes. I mean, sure, when you call it as it is and point out that 'tuning makes a drum', you can make a DDrum sound godly, but...
