If you don't mind, could we please keep this thing on track? I mean really, the nerve.

Re: The thread derail thread

I think it's cool when a thread derails. I mean we already talked about everything 8 or 9 times anyway.

The thread derail thread

Are they really that bad? I mean do people get offended when their thread went from left foot 64th notes to grooming your pet? Isn't it enough that the thread evolved into something unexpected?...

Re: Should I jump on this snare?

Lol Larry. WHAT a cheesey synth sound. Good song though.

Re: Ludwig Black Beauty

Here's one guys opinion. I own the same exact snare as the first snare shown. It is a fantastic drum. I am partial to 6.5" deep snares. I kept the 5" and got the exact same drum in the 6.5" depth....

Re: Supraphonic Throw Off Options

You could get an adapter plate and put almost any kind of strainer on it. Just another option.

Re: Not sure what this is on my tom...

That is odd. It looks like they messed up, cut the piece too short, realized it, and did a beautiful piece together job on it. Did you buy these new?

Re: Thoughts on YouTube Covers?

Speak for yourself!

Sticking my nose in peoples genitals for a good sniff has brought unexpected excitement to my life!

Hopefully, you'll get a chance to see how well it works in London.

Re: How do people get your attention when practicing on your home kit?

My wife uses a slingshot and rocksalt.

JK. I've been known to throw sticks pretty forcefully when I've been startled, a knee jerk reaction lol. The light thing works, still freaks me out....

Re: Tips on looking more lively and energetic while playing?

You could try starting with smiling, there's my tip. There's something about a smiling drummer. Think of James Gadsen. Papa Jo Jones. Neil Peart.

Wait! Not Neil Peart! Lolol!

It's easy....

Re: Does your family understand?

My Dad told me not that long ago that he "blames himself" and "regrets the day" he allowed me to get a drum set at age 11. Lol. Like he had a choice in the matter. It was in me and it had to come...

Re: Need advice for new drum setup

I would just set them up an play them and if there is a problem, let them start it. If you are in the basement, there should be no problem. Drape sheets rugs blankets if the basement is all concrete...

Re: Thoughts on YouTube Covers?

YT covers. I don't seek them out. I watch them if a member here posts them and I like the member. I like watching Mary Oh!'s drum covers because she is still in the front part of her journey and she...

Re: 1968 Ludwig Supraphonic a good investment?

Very rarely do drums increase in value. Drums are purchases not investments. But great drum for sure, if you like aluminum drums and know what they sound like.

Re: Could I have been conned?

Oh sorry trade. Promuco shell? That's a new one on me. Since it's a trade, and it sounds better...as long as the thing performs well and doesn't delaminate...

I am wondering why he encouraged you...

Re: Could I have been conned?

Pics. We need pics. And we need to know what you paid for it. The wood plastic veneer part is confusing. So detailed pics, please.

Re: Following Larryace's lead

That's a significant bonus right there too, better stick response. Doubles down the toms feel better, sound better, are better. I just have to get used to the tone from the throne.

Re: Does your family understand?

Lol I can so relate Mary. I just did a drum cam video, and when I watch it....what I see with my eyes...it doesn't look nearly as hard as it feels when playing or simply listening back.. I look at...

Re: What do you want your guitar player to know?

My trio band (the one with the metronome practicing guitarist) also play drummer-less duo gigs. For those gigs, the bassist is the one who really has to keep the time. I often hear complaints from...

Re: Need some help with fills

Another idea is to take fills that you already know and voice them, at least partially, on the closed hi hat. That tone gives the ears a moment of refreshment among the slurry of toms.

If I take...

Tell you what, the minute I saw this thread, it instantly hooked me in. Like, yeah, it would be a beautiful thing if guitarists cared enough to wonder what we think. Because too many times, I don't...

Re: Need some help with fills

Fair enough. I just have to spout off once in a while. The one fill I think fits just about anywhere is the press roll or the double stroke roll, played on as many or as few drums as you want. As...
