Re: dw colllectors experts, need info

Yeah, my kit was made in 2004 and does not have stickers, the so called shell note is stamped directly onto the shell. This is not a 2000 manufacture.

Re: Playing Someone Else's Kit

Had a so so experience a couple of weeks ago when my band sat in on an open mike that our bass player helps run. The guy had DW's and they sounded o.k. for the room nothing special. I sat behind...

Re: Pearl Sensitone Snare (14x6.5)

I still own an original steel sensitone that sounds really good and love the throw off. This is the first time I've seen this new design and let me be the first to say IMO it is rather ugly. Looks...

Re: Drummers around 5'6" - What size drums do you have?

I'm close to Bo at 5'3 and one of my kits is a Ludwig Legacy with a 24" kick and atlas arch mounted 9x13 and I have no problem. I wouldn't go any higher than that though. It also depends on how...

Re: Gretsch Broadkasters Vintage Build; Floor Tom Legs Rattle Against Rezo Hoop

Nice inconspicuous solution but I would still have where you bought it order another set of gaskets and double them up. Poor design, I don't know much about Gretsch but I would assume their diecast...

Re: Ludwig bass mounts

I have 3 atlas brackets and the curved spurs on a 24" and it just fits in a 26" soft case.

Ludwig Legacy Metal Hoops

I was at a GC about a month ago and noticed the hoops on a Signet kit they had there were thicker than the ones on my Legacy kit. Is this deliberate so the Legacies have the same thinner ones as the...

Re: Ludwig bass mounts

The rail slides out of the brackets for transport. You need to use oversized cases for the size of the brackets and wing nuts. It is very versatile as far as tom placement. The tom still might be...

Re: another snare buzz thread

It still might be coming from your tom(s). Press your hand on the batter head of the tom directly in front of the snare and hit the snare to see if if the sound and buzz go away.
Your wires may...

Re: PSA - Lubricate your P85.

Just lubed mine up with 3 in1 oil let it set a day and it is smooth as silk, however it has now somehow made it loosen up my wires during almost every song I played last night I had to constantly...

Re: PSA - Lubricate your P85.

I'll try lubing mine but it is almost brand new and it feels like it's getting mechanically stuck.

Re: comparing two new sets, Ludwig or DW?

My DW's sound just as I described they are not thuddy at all believe me. As far as Ludwig lugs being cheap - no way they are heavy duty, it's the DW lugs that are thin and crappy. I have nothing...

Re: Rant: Who's in charge at Gibraltar??

I bought an Intruder double pedal quite a few years ago and had to return it because the CAM rubbed against the drum head. Their wing nuts tend to get hung up on the less expensive cymbal holders.

Re: Pearl Free Floater (advice)

I had a 6.5 brass free floater that was fabulous for back beats, just throw on a coated power stroke batter and good to go. Mine was the first edition I screwed up the finish on it.

Re: Mapex saturn iv exotic ir tama starclassic maple

I'm not familiar with Mapex but you can not go wrong with the Starclassic maples. It depends on what your into. The Starclassics have an edge to them but they are great, good luck.

Re: Tama Starclassics!

They are 1998, 16 years old. I got tired of them, the hanging floor tom was a 15" that always sounded "heady" the 8 & 10 were unbelievable and so was the kick with Evans EQ3 batter. I also have a...
