Re: Kit Too Big or Too Small

I don't know where I fall... because I play one up, one down, but they're 15" and 20" and then there's the two 24" kicks. The biggest small kit you've ever seen.

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

thanks, although my stuff is definitely sloppy in ways that need improvement, not too far back, not too far forward, just all over the place. What I need is a combination of being harsher on myself,...

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

having just tracked at a studio, and gone to mix the tracks myself, I've just found out I'm extremely sloppy, and off-the-grid, even when I feel bang on when I'm playing.

balls.

Re: Is It Just Me?

for Cymbals, I'm all Sabian. (though I also buy wuhan chinas and splashes)

Re: LIVE:HOW TO SET UP: click track, live guitar, kick triggers in drummers ears & backing track for

stereo output on the Roland SPD-SX (SPD-S should also work, or Yamaha's similar sampler) have the backing track WITH the click on one side, and WITHOUT on the other side. send the side without the...

Re: Freehand Technique by Johnny Rabb

from the metal side of things, I've tried it out in the "gravity blast" context as we tend to call it. I found I couldn't get enough power, so I haven't really used it in the last few years, and I've...

Re: Wearing hearing protection issue

ALWAYS wear hearing protection. acoustic drums by themselves can damage your ears.

you can't turn up and down, guitarists/bassists/vocalists can. They need to match your comfortable volume, it is...

Re: defying conventional drum set up for unique sound

yep. got a 20" tom hoop and 20" evans black chrome tom head for the batter, kept the bass hoop and got a remo fiberskyn for the resonant. I just love the faux-calfskin look.

Re: So where did this stuff come from?

haha, sorry about that, it was meant totally tongue-in-cheek. Of course death metal was fast before Cryptopsy, Cryptopsy just then went faster, like I said earlier, first song, first album, 1994, 320...

How many drummers are there in the 300+ bpm club?

putting creativity, groove and all that other important stuff aside, I'm just curious how many drummers and bands out there have surpassed this...

Re: So where did this stuff come from?

I think a very good example, and important point in the evolution of this ridiculous speed is Cryptopsy's first album from 1994. Here's a band who thought, "hey, this death metal stuff is pretty...
