Re: Nobody wants to sell me a drum set

You will have to let us know what you think of your new kit! My currently have 3 kits, all were purchased with not being set up and little to no hitting of each drum.

My at home kit is a Pearl...

Re: Drum Wraps

I just recently got a Tama Starclassic Birch Bubinga kit wrapped because I knew I wanted a wrap and not a lacquer. Wrapped kits are great for gigging because the wraps can withstand...

Re: Tama Starclassic Questions

That is exactly what they are! 12x7, 14x12, 16x14, and 20x18 kick. Originally I wasn't crazy about the 20" kick, but what I'm using it for, it will get the job done!

Tama Starclassic Questions

I am looking at used kits online and have a question about Tama Starclassic B/B kits. I'm looking at one that is Shattered Turquoise with Black Nickel hardware. I believe they are the Performer B/B...

Re: The straight 4-hour gig.

Have had to do this several times in the Harrisburg, PA area. A certain club where some of the workers become undressed type of place if you catch my drift. We had to do 9 pm till 1 am straight. No...

In Ear Monitor Setup Question

My band is considering going to the In Ear Monitor setup to add backing tracks and a click to performances. We are a 5 piece group: Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar/Keys, Bass, Drums, Lead Vocals.

If I...

Re: Recommendations for a new kit

If you have already upgraded snare and cymbals, $1,500 will be plenty! While the joy and satisfaction of owning a "brand new" kit is awesome, the better deal is to go used. At $1,500 you have many...

Re: Don't look at me, I'm hideous

I know the feeling! Every time I purchase something I go into the "Do I really need this?" phase. Then I find a way to justify it and everything is better!

What did you pick up and what are you...

Re: I've come full circle with that DW kit.

Was there a thread with any pics? I'd love to see this kit!

Re: What to do with a bonus check

Put it towards the credit cards and the rest towards your car. I'd put it towards whichever has the highest interest rate, save yourself as much money as possible! And that's coming from an...

Re: who is supposed to provide the backline drums?

Unfortunately up here shared kit gigs are as common as anything. We generally share the kit of the final band playing. While I think even the opening band should stick around for all bands after them...

Re: Great car for a drummer

I have a 2013 Chevy Sonic and I love it. I can fit in my full set up: 6 drums, 2 full cymbal bags, and 2 hardware bags filled with drum rack components, hi hat stand, snare stand, and throne and...

Re: Tama Starclassing B/B or DW Performance?

I've played both and the only one of the two I'd ever consider getting is the Tama! I've always loved the B/B shells.

Re: What to do after university?

Unfortunately, like many occupations, a big part of today's world is based on connections and luck. I have a buddy that just so happened to get fired from his job and headed to a local bar early on a...

Re: Pearl Masters Studio - is this a good deal?

I would obviously pass if you don't get good quality pictures or video. A reprint could be of excellent quality but it's hard to say if you don't see it in person. I know several people that have...

Re: When do you use quarter vs eighth vs sixteenth notes on the hihat and the ride cymbal?

Wow, great question! This is the hardest question I've attempted to answer on here, so take it easy on me! The short answer is I do what fits the song. A lot of times I find myself trying to...

Re: Optimum settings

I agree! I tend to set up my kit, at least cymbals, lower than most, so people don't move mine cause they raise the cymbal stands. But when I play other people's kits, I sometimes have to move them....

Re: Pearl Masters Studio - is this a good deal?

The missing of a 12 or 16 inch tom depends on you personally. For gigs I use a 10/14/22 set up and it works fine. I just tune them on the low end. It's all personal preference and music style though.

Re: Pearl Masters Studio - is this a good deal?

Hey rmac!

I play a Pearl Masters Custom which is 4 ply maple with reinforcement rings. These are birch if they are the Masters Studio. The BB-3 mount was probably installed by the factory, the...

Re: First post: another newb needs help-is this a good deal?

I would go lower personally! If they are asking $550 for all of that, you could offer $450, maybe settle in the middle at $500. You offer $500, he will counter at $525 to make it feel like you took...

Re: What would be your drummer nickname?

I usually get "Red" or "Big Red" from being a bigger guy who is a ginger. I also am known by a lot of people in the area for working part time managing a local beer store, so I get "Beer Guy" a lot...

Re: Optimum settings

I have to agree with Bo. When you allow your kit to be played by others, things will get changed. I'm 6 feet tall, if I let someone that is 5'5" borrow my car, I expect that the next time I use it...

Re: 16" x 16" rack mounted tom?

Pearl makes their optimount system for 16 inch tons. I have a 16x14 that is a rack tom. I actually wanna make my 14 and 16 rack toms into floor toms by installing legs but it's the drummers...

Re: Black Friday and holiday sales

Right? How do you celebrate President's Day? By getting an extra $1,500 off my new truck, of course!
