Re: What's your favorite drumset category? Drums, cymbals or hardware

I am literally obsessed with cymbals. I can look at them all day and research them all day. Drums come in close second. I could care less about the hardware.

Re: Snare rim-click help

I actually did replace the batter head a couple months ago. So it probably is just my snare.

Do different types of hoops affect cross sticking? I may look into a snare with some die-cast hoops if...

Re: Snare rim-click help

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have tried using the butt end of the stick. I've also tried it in every possible position. I tried all of the suggestions again on my snare and still have the same...

Snare rim-click help

I'll just get right to the point. I have never been able to get a good rim click out of my snare. It just sounds hollow and quiet, no matter where I do it on the drum. I have a cheap Peavey steel...

Re: Does your gear HAVE to be the same brand or do you mix/match?

I'm probably the most picky about cymbals. I'm open to all brands, but I like all of the cymbals that are on the kit to be the same brand. My snare can be whatever brand as long as it sounds good. I...

Re: You and your practice regimen, come clean

I'm sort of up and down with my practicing. Some days I'll practice for 3 hours. Some days I'll practice for 30 minutes and do nothing productive. I guess some of the time I just don't feel like...

Re: Intersting article on Beats Headphones

On Amazon, the Sony headphones you guys have been mentioning are only $85. It's very tempting.

Anyone use the Vic Firth headphones? I'm interested in those also.

Re: Stock snares

My stock steel snare that came with my Peavey set is pretty horrible. I've only just recently been able to calm most of the nasty overtones with an Evans HD genera dry and a homemade dampening ring....

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

When the rack toms are all angled 90 degrees toward me after another drummer has used the kit. I simply can't stand it.

Re: What's Your Signature Fill?

Lately I've really been liking to do paradiddle-ish things between the snare, toms, and kick. I hit the snare and a tom at the same time to give it a more powerful feel....

Re: Here are Benny Grebb & Bernad Purdie lessons On Drumeo

I watched the Benny Greb lesson live. It was awesome. I just love his overall playing style, its kind of what I'm trying to go for. My favorite part of the lesson was definitely Grebfruit :)

Re: Recording drums with android phone?

I've tried recording my drums just with the regular video recording app, and it is always just so distorted and gross.
I would try a sock or pillow, but doing that would limit where I could place...

So I don't really want to get serious with recording my drums, but I would like to just take decent videos of me practicing. I don't really want to buy a usb mic, I would just like to use the mic on...
