Re: Crap rehearsal = great gig?

I've noticed this too. I guess when mistakes come out at rehearsal (the best time for them to happen) we tend to take mental note of it and make sure it doesn't happen at the gig. And live you have...

Re: One or two mids toms?

My most used setup is 1 up, 1 down. When I use 2 up I usually have them to the left to keep the close ride placement over the bass drum. On occasion when a backline kit is provided and set up 2 up on...

Re: Why bother with books?

I buy books that contain information that interests me like latin, jazz and linear funk. Some of the stuff I learned has crept into my playing and has been beneficial to my overall approach. I tend...

Re: New product idea again

For me, I think that would feel awkward. I don't keep my heel up all the time, it rests between strokes. Having the heel forced up in that position would inhibit the stroke because the ankle would...

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

I used to dig power toms back when it was the norm but not so much any more.

Basically all the fads that I liked and were big when I was a kid like big kits, heavy-duty hardware and power toms I...

Re: 1 up, 2 down - opinion on FT sizes

The seemingly logical choice is 16". But 18s can sound so good. I used to run 12-18-22 with my old Artstar and it was awesome. But the safe choice is 16.

Re: Buddy Rich: Two Kinds of Technique I Admired

Those salaries he made in 1940's dollars are mind boggling.

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

You should just buy it anyway. You could easily sell it for more if don't want to use it. The backpack is handy dandy which you could keep.

Re: 12" Tom

I have a Renown and have never noticed this but we may just be hearing things differently. In addition to Larry's advice I would look at the RIMS mount as the possible culprit (if you're using one of...

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

I have that exact package too except my stand and bag are a little different. You got it for a great price. I think I paid a little more 'cause I had to deal with shipping and import duty.

Re: Ludwig Club Date NOT discontinued

That was me that helped the guy out with the washer the first time. I just could not figure out for the life of me why he was having trouble getting his holder to stay put until it dawned on me that...

Congrats!

Re: My Ludwig collection

I think it was a good move to trade up to these from the Signet. They are gorgeous.

I had never considered that their construction might not work well with low tunings but it makes sense. Was...

Re: My 1st drum kit - PDP CX Series. Advice for an old newbie??

I'm not in a hurry I just love sky blue pearl and was considering buying it but not right now so I was just keeping an eye on it. Glad you're enjoying it so much. I'm in Laval.

Re: Finally!!

Been a fan since I was a kid in the 70s. I'm in a major KISS phase right now. Peter Criss was a huge influence on my playing growing up so I thought he would make a cool avatar.

Re: My 1st drum kit - PDP CX Series. Advice for an old newbie??

I am watching that kit or an identical one on Kijiji. I think it might be the one you got and he hasn't taken down the ad yet. Was the seller in L'Assomption?

I looooooooove that finish. Congrats,...

Re: Finally!!

Wow, those are beautiful! I didn't know they made them with that wrap. That is one of my favorite sparkle colors.

Isn't it fun when something you've been wanting falls on your lap at a good price?...

Re: Ludwig floor tom leg placement?

I have 2 Club Date floor toms and a Rocker and they are all equidistant. I guess it's something they do on their higher lines.

Glad things finally worked out for you.

Re: Ludwig Club Date NOT discontinued

Thanks. That was a fun experiment that you probably won't catch me using live. As for heads, right now I've got coated G1's on all the toms. I've been playing mostly un-mic'ed gigs so those project...

Re: Ludwig Club Date NOT discontinued

It is possible that Ludwig are trying to get rid of their remaining stock and will not make more. It's also entirely possible that my local shop just ordered more existing stock. They didn't specify....

Re: First time drilling a shell

Nice job! When I first bought a bass drum mounted cymbal holder (same round bracket) it took me forever to install it mostly because I was scared to screw it up. I don't consider myself a handy with...

Re: Gear fail - handled beautifully :)

I try to time my sneeze with a crash or snare hit. Otherwise it can mess with the groove for sure, lol. Keep sticks handy on both sides. Sometimes an itch has to wait depending where it is...

Re: Gear fail - handled beautifully :)

A wing nut is only as good as the cymbal sleeve underneath it. If the wing nut has nothing to tighten down on to (like the shaft of a sleeve) then yeah, it can loosen up and fall off. I replace...
