Re: Silly question about kick drum depth

The debate for me is definitely between a 16 or 14 depth. I have a 24x20 now and it's overkill and a pain in the ass to move. So basically I can get a very prominent bass sound out if a 14 if I just...

Silly question about kick drum depth

So im am in love with my 24'' kick drums... the feel, the sound, the look etc. The only thing I hate about them is how difficult they are to haul around if they arent really shallow (ie 14'' deep).

Re: Finally practicing again - why do I facepalm.

Another little trick to help develop that weak hand or both hands really is to hold the stick with just the thumb and fore finger and do singles. obviously you need to utilize rebound and then start...

Drum recording questions

I've been toying with the idea of creating a YouTube channel and putting up some drum covers. The only problem is I don't have a camera and I know absolutely nothing about how to record drum tracks...

Re: New 24x14 kick drum is hopping....

thanks for the post. I use a DW 5000 single pedal... ive never really had to tighten the clamp onto any of the bass drums ive used in the past due to never having a "creeping" issue. It was always...

Re: New 24x14 kick drum is hopping....

are you saying that due to THIS particular bass and its current spur style it would put undue amounts of stress on the shell? or does your statement apply to all 24x14 bass drums?

i might just...

Re: New 24x14 kick drum is hopping....

yeah I have the reso side off the ground some because I like to have my beater strike the batter squarely.... otherwise you really effect the rebound off the drum. don't believe me, weckl told me...

Re: Replacing bass drum spurs...

Only reason i want to go pearl is because I know those suckers are heavy and that will help hold the drum in place... it seems to wobble a lot cause its so light and I play hard.

Re: New 24x14 kick drum is hopping....

My pedal has plenty of velcro and stays put, I just don't like to clamp down hard on the hoop of the drum with the pedal... It damages it over time.

Re: question about shallow kick drums

Don't get me wrong I LOVE bonham's playing and the sound of his kit in general, but his kick drum does have a bit more of a flabby less focused sound that I tend to not like.

question about shallow kick drums

This is probably going to sound like a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway... Ive really grown fond of the idea of a shallower kick drum for many reason, but one of the main ones is portability.
