Re: How LOUD were the classic rock bands??

I heard most of the bands in that era and a LOT of it sounded like hell.

Re: What's your take on electronic drum sets?

Re: What's your take on electronic drum sets?

Re: Going from tight hi-hat to ride cymbal during songs - ride cymbal ideas

Time for some custom hardware.

You can figure out how to mount a closed set of hats without an actual HH stand.

I'd try to find room on the right side, by the ride and play open handed.

I do...

Re: Real Band Dilemma....

1. Start with your "This is the best band I've ever been in and it is likely the last band I'll ever be in".

2. Simply state your desire to gig more often.

3. Ask for their input on ways to...

Re: Comparing oneself to others (drummers)

I hear a LOT of amateur drummers that suck. They over play, play too loud and rush their fills. I am better.than them.

I hear a lot that are capable and I'm just as capable.

This weekend I saw...

It sounds pretty damn good!

Re: Talking salespeople down in price

I am with you. Same "career", same observations. I have zero tolerance with customers at work and I rarely negotiate with a business when I am the consumer.

I used to NEVER negotiate. When...

Re: I've got the "looper" blues

He doesn't have to listen. He is flawless :)

The machine becomes the leader and we must all succumb to him.

Re: I've got the "looper" blues

Assuming he played it in tempo :)

If a loop is off a touch, you will be fighting it all the way.

I tried one of those but the small speaker sounded terrible. I thought it would be awesome...

Re: I've got the "looper" blues

Jim, it's basically the same as the backing track parts you were playing here but the guitarist is triggering them with a foot switch.

And, he may have just recorded them prior to triggering them...

Re: Cover Band Drummists - How accurate are you?

All I do is get the bass drum proper. Easy signature fills get played properly. Difficult ones come close enough (for me)

I realized a while back that I naturally tend to kick...

Re: Tempo comfort zones

I struggle with slow songs around 90 and under. Most people I play with do also.

When you are playing up tempo R&R and slow it down for a slow dance tune, EVERYBODY wants to push it. When you are...

Re: Producers killed instrumentalists

If the payoff is worth it, just accept the things you can't change.

I'd be busting the guys balls to see if it would lighten him up a little.....but I'm...
