Re: Can Cheap Buckets Sound Good?

Cool video and cool playing.
The bucket had all-purpose on it, so why not use it as a drum, right ;-)?
I wonder what he is using as sticks. They make 2B's look like baby toys.
And I never thought...

Re: Quiet Setup Review: RTOM Black Hole/Zildjian L80

I hope you get the RTOM bass head to work as you want. Being European as well, the RTOM and Super Pads are pretty expensive over here. Just compare how much they cost in the US...

I guess the...

Re: Quiet Setup Review: RTOM Black Hole/Zildjian L80

Oh, and to add: in the current active thread about hydraulic heads it was mentioned those are also good for quiet playing.
Well, I have to disagree as I just compared an Evans black hydraulic tom...

Re: Quiet Setup Review: RTOM Black Hole/Zildjian L80

Nice review, thanks for posting.

Recently I have been experimenting with silencing my acoustic drum kit as well.
I bought Evans Sound Off pads years ago, including the kick drum pad.
I got a...

Re: Just Came From Terrible Audition - I sucked!

If only one band member showed up and the others didn't even took the trouble, I would have thanked for the opportunity and walked away.

It sounds like they are better of with a sequenced /...

Re: Gretsch badge question

Well, I can see your point and why it would annoy you but why bother?
If you're gigging, the audience wouldn't notice the (absence of a) small tom badge anyway. Like GruntersDad said, a larger logo...

Re: Matching Gear, Cool or Dorky?

I would say if this wrap suits the image and style of music you want to represent, go ahead.
Not only wrapping the drums but the (bass) guitar and combos as well is taking it a step too far for my...

Re: Woeful suckfest :(

Hi Andy,

Sorry to read about that, unfortunately it happens sometimes.
I remember doing a gig once where one of the overhead microphones kept falling down and the tech had to walk over all the...

Re: Tune Bot - Worthwhile or Not?

I have been using the Tune Bot for years and it is a great tool.
Like any tool: some like it, some hate it, some don't need it (or think so).
It is great for quickly tuning your drums consistently....

Re: The Cheap Snare Thread

I'm sorry to disagree, but don't you read the thread before posting? Acrolites usually aren't cheap over here in Europe.
And this topic wasn't meant as the Great Acrolite Thread (there already is...

Re: The Cheap Snare Thread

Some deviating answers, although the 1st post seemed pretty obvious...

I'll chime in with a few suggestions, European priced (BTW: I extended $ 250 to EUR 250):

- Gretsch Renown Maple 14 x 6,5,...

Re: Does anyone actually do gigs with large bass drums any more?

Cool, if it works for you then itīs fine. That is all that matters.

+1.
I donīt know the weight of my hardware bag but, filled with Tama Roadpro stands, it is no joke.

Re: Does anyone actually do gigs with large bass drums any more?

Just curious: you don't use resonant heads on your toms and bass?

I don't mind smaller drums as it is the sound that matters - although the bigger-is-better bias always seems to be in ones mind -...

Re: Seller's remorse

You are basically asking if buying a new set of drums will live up to your long lived expectation of making you happy, more than your Resonators can do.
Other people can only guess, you probably...

Re: No Talent Hack, But Loving It....

Well, it seems all these posts has scared off the TS...or he is too busy practicing... ;-)

Just my $.02: if you like to play drums, just play drums, enjoy it and don't care too much about the...

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

Aha, it seemed to make sense but I didn't know it was a fact.
I can see positive and negative sides on that concept - ;-)

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

You can play all Gretsch drums on both sides, didn't you know? ;-)

I don't recall disliking some drum brands logo although I don't like the sticker badges on some cheaper drums.
It has to be a...

Re: Drinking beer at a gig

I think there are (too) many variables to give one answer: paid gig vs just playing for fun, location, setting, occasion, audience, expectations, etc.

If I would come to a formal wedding and would...

Re: My new 12x5

Pearl SensiTones are great snares - I own a bronze one - although yours seems to need a little TLC - which you are already giving it.

12" snares are nice, I have the Gretsch Mark Schulman.
They...

Re: SNARE TUNING

It came naturally. Must be my former Dutch math education :-)

One thing more to consider (step 28 I guess): tuning to notes.
If you tune drums (toms in particular) to chord notes - like C-E-G or...

Re: SNARE TUNING

Just 27 steps! Times 3 toms, 1 bass drum and 1 snare! Tuning drums is fast and easy! Silly (bass) guitar players cheating with their tuners, this is the real stuff! ;-)

Just kidding, good...

Re: Just browsing - cool steel snares

OK, enjoy the Sensitone, also a great snare and at a bargain price as well.
