Re: custom drum companies

Omer - read this & absorb. It's the truth.

& this is a prime example of apples to apples comparison/costs. Unix build mostly stave & segmented solid shell drums. Damn good ones too. You cannot...

Re: Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Yes Eric :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgFt6QFzfEM&hd=1 How are you getting on with your snare BTW?

Thanks Scotty, but the badges? Really? Are they that bad? We think they're a nice...

Re: Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Ah, Duncan said he was short of accommodation, so I offered him a share of my room on the 7th. More than happy to revert. Some confusion obviously. Over to Duncan -

When we eventually get some...

Re: Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Guys - stones - not an issue. The bottom of the bass drum isn't touching the stones (gravel). Anyhow, a former (famous, infamous) member was known for his "rock riser", & I don't remember anyone...

Re: Fiberglass/Wood Hybrid Drums

For a processed audio video, I thought the snare sound was pretty flat & one dimensional TBH. Kapur offers a nice soft low voice. I'm guessing the idea of fibreglass is to add a hardness based...

Re: Closest wood to beech?

Actually, beech delivers less high frequencies than hard maple, less upper low end than birch, but more in the sub frequencies (depending on construction). In other words, balanced.

Re: Jenkins-Martin (Blaemire) announces "Starry Night" Limited Edition.

Love the bravery! :)

A rack to hold two cymbals & a tom is a bit weird though, especially in combination with a tom mounted on a cymbal stand.

Re: Hiromi trio gig report. Simon Phillips, Anthony Jackson

Such a shame you couldn't make it Henri. I regret the late notice, but I only heard about it last minute myself. There'll be another time, & we'll all be there soaking up the special moments :)

Re: A mixture of Bonzo, Cozy Powell & Tony Williams :)

Some of the highly informed Youtube comments :(

"She is hacking her drumset like an angry three-year-old child would do. Disgusting"

"Again, what is so great about her?"

Well, I hope these...

Thanks Arky :)

My main man! Henri, great of you to chime in :)

Re: Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Hahaha, good one Larry. I see what you did there :)

Thanks David. You'll be playing it again, & two completely new kits too, on June 8th :)

What have you got on me Duncan? Are you selling...

Re: Closest wood to beech?

Janka is only part of the story, & in ply shells, means much less than in solid shells. Essentially, the ply layup adds rigidity that that significantly changes the behaviour of the wood species. ...

Re: Hiromi trio gig report. Simon Phillips, Anthony Jackson

Agree completely. The spontaneity is shouting out at you in whispers. I have the album version, & although beautifully played, is much shorter & structured. Here, they wander off & just get it on....

Re: Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Thanks Steve. I omitted the new memory locks from the photo's as they haven't arrived back from the platers yet. They're pretty smart IMHO :)

Re: It's official,,Gregg Bissonette leaves Mapex

I agree with it being a good move Steve, although it's likely to be unpopular in certain parts of Canada ;)

Re: What Haven't You Played Yet but Really Want To?

I so want to attend your bash Larry. If anything stops me, it will be a combination of sheer workload & lack of money for the transatlantic hop.

Thanks for your kind words on the drums too Larry,...

Re: Some thoughts on keeping time

I think it's the prefix "just" Larry. It implies keeping time is somehow a lesser skill, when in fact, in all it's guises, it's the greatest skill of all. Ok, nobody wants to be a metronome, & I...

Re: What Haven't You Played Yet but Really Want To?

That's really generous of you Bob. I've only had a brief knock on a classic a while back. Not enough to tell me anything really, but I did like it.

One day Steve, one day :) Maybe you're going...

Steve, he goes to the top of the list, & gets to bring out his own signature drum. He pressed the refresh button :)

Re: Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Thanks :) We put a lot of effort into creating the shell hardware for these drums. All bespoke made in the UK from T6 aluminium, their low mass really allows the shells to sing. Costs a fortune to...

Some In-Tense porn for the weekend ;)

Open, expressive, dynamic, musical, unique voice, & really lightweight. What more could a man (or woman) wish for ;)

Enjoy.

Re: Double pedal - on it's way out.

Thanks for all the good wishes guys :) My situation is stable, & long may it continue to be. I do live in pain 365, but after 7 years, my body has become used to it. Think one bitch of a toothache...

Re: Sonor Designer or DW Collectors?

Glad to hear it, & that my advice was of some use. If you ever want to really up the depth of lustre, follow my guidance in previous posts.

Anyhow, go & enjoy those wonderful drums :)
