Re: Yamaha Custom Absolute

I play a sensitive series snare with my absolutes, and it is beautiful sounding. There have a few used ones on ebay going for what I would consider a pretty good price.

Re: Brady Drums

My experience with Brady is limited to the Jarrah block snare that I own. In short, it is a beast. It is very dry, and it has a thick sound. I've found the sound that I like with the drum, but I've...

Re: The Best Drum Brands In Order Are????

Based upon your drum choices- I would rate them on quality and reliability. If this is popularity contest, the list would be different, but the thread title says best brands, not most popular....

Re: BONHAM KIT USERS- floor tom question

I agree with the last post. I've always had (as long as I can rember at least) a second floor tom. When I don't have it, it feels weird. I guess it would be similar to someone removing the second tom...

Re: Ludwig 6.5x14 Blacrolite vs 6.5x14 Supraphonic

The difference is color. The sound difference is negligible.

Re: Your first set?

Wow. I'm lame! I already posted my first kit...DUh! Well, here is a really bad video of me in action in about 1989.

This video is funny now, but a few years ago, it was terribly embarrassing! I'd...

Re: the what is your snare thread

Sorry, couldn't pick one...guess which brand of snare I like the best! right now (but it always changes), I really like the bronze one. It has more bark than the other three. I have the 402's set up...

Re: I Love Ludwig snare drums because...

The 402 supra is the snare sound of my youth. I grew up listening to Bonham, and despite the fact that a million others love his snare sound, I do as well (there is a reason so many like it). I've...

Re: mapex Pro M - 24" kick sound

I have the rock kit, and I love it. I run the whole set with clear ambassadors, except for the kick. I use a ps3 with the stock reso wide open. It has a big open loud airy sound. I've tried other...

Not the best pics, but check the above link for a gold kit- gold rules! I have a red set, but gold would definitely be my second choice.

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic. Snare system!!!

I would look into purchasing a Ludwig p86 throw. It is more stable, and it bolts right in. I have one on my player supra, and it does not loosen up at all. It is also shorter so that it will not get...

Re: New vs Classic Supraphonic

Karl, it is not too often that I disagree with you, but by your logic, a 1966 Fender Stratocaster should not cost more than an new one. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but If one can find a 1970's...

Re: Black Panther Walnut Snares

The latest drum has die cast hoops, and it has an ear splitting rimshot. The only thing lost when playing this drum is your fertility. This drum causes sterility...rumor has it. I like this drum...

Re: Now I know I want a Ludwig 402 but what shell type: Chrome, Brass or Bronze?

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but did you follow the link? There is a fellow that owns all three, and he has a video of each. The sound is pretty representative of the drums.

Re: Steven Adler's Snare

I think I'm in the minority here! I love the album, truly enjoy Adlers playing on the album, but hate the snare! It is overprodruced, and sounds more like a gunshot in a cement hallway than a snare....
