Re: Drum & Cymbal Company Logos

I like the 60's Ludwig, Slingerland logos. Also the Sonor Vintage series script logo. Drop G Gretsch is really pretty. Today's logos are mostly all too big.

Check out Hendrix drums logo. Pretty...

Re: GOOD Craigslist stories?

Holy Moly! What a steal. I'd love to see some pictures of that.

Good story. I'm also originally from CLE area and a Browns fan living in da 'Burgh. If they start busting on me I go right the...

Re: GOOD Craigslist stories?

I live near Pittsburgh and was leaving for Cleveland area to visit my Mom. On a whim I figured I'd just check the CLE craigslist before I left. I find a Gretsch Brooklyn 4 pc, 6 months old, for...

Re: How do I tell my friend that his expensive custom handmade snare is shit?

I'm not saying that you can't play everything with one snare drum. I'm saying that there are some snare drums that sound so dreadful that you can't, or wouldn't want to, play anything on them. If...

Re: How do I tell my friend that his expensive custom handmade snare is shit?

hmmm..........there's a lot less variables with a trumpet. I've had some crappy snare drums that weren't good at any type of music. So no, it's not a total load of crap.

Re: Joe Vitale here!

Good to see you Joe. You've been an inspiration to me since 1973. I've played with Wally Bryson and Klawon brothers in CLE's Peter Panic and with Artie Peeler in Flasher. Tom Kriss (RIP) was in our...

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom Birch

Renowns come with good heads. Clear Emperors. Like the SCs, you'll need better heads with the Amory. I put the requisite time in tuning both the SCs and the two Renown kits I've owned. Renowns are...

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom Birch

I'll be the contrarian here. I bought a set of SCs brand new. I found them to be seriously lacking in too many areas. Stock heads are trash, floor tom legs are like tooth picks, rims are flimsy and...

Re: Rimshots on die cast hoops

Totally agree. I have S-hoops on both my go to snares in addition to having them on the batter side of my Sonor Delite toms.

Hendrix Archetype snares

Does anyone own or have played the Hendrix archetype stave snares? I'm looking at their 14x6.5 ambrosia maple and their 14x7 Walnut burst. Both in gloss finish. Thanks in advance for any...

Re: The right tools for the job.

I use a 5 piece, If I don't have 2 rack toms it just doesn't feel right. I would agree with the Neil Peart comment mentioned above.

The context of a snare with a particular kit.

Has anyone ever spent time getting a snare to sound the way you like with a certain kit only to find out it sounds totally different with another kit? I spent a week or so trying different heads on a...

Re: What drums intrigue you that you have NEVER owned

As far as kits go....... probably this one. Perfect sizes for me, gorgeous and I'll bet they sound better than they look. I'm glad I don't live close to DCP because if I wandered in there after a...

That was my intent actually. I thought just maybe some industry people might pass through here and get the message.

Re: Freight carriers....?

Not a big deal unless it's there for more than a day or so. Who's the shipping outfit? Fedex? Grove City, OH is a big hub for their shipments. I've had drums ship from the east coast past PA into...

Re: Sonor Vintage Series

Hey John,

I have a 22-13-16 with the 14x5.75 matching snare. I'm using stock heads on the toms with batters just above wrinkle and the stock reso's about a 1/2 turn up from the batters. I use the...

Re: New Drums from Mapex

Unless it can get all my toms to levitate, show up to gigs via teleporting, and sound as good as my Sonors and Brooklyns, I probably won't be buying a set. I have a feeling the aesthetics could...

Re: New Drums from Mapex

Having looked at the pics available and not really knowing what the shell composition will sound like, I'm inclined to default back to older Black Panther kits. I didn't have any problem with the...
