Re: That Erskine kit at NAMM

I saw Soul Asylum at a bar in Baltimore in the 80's. Their drummer had a yellow Yamaha kit. Sounded incredible.

Re: I'm back. Did you miss me?

Hey, glad you are back!! You've walked down a tough road. It's good you're here to tell about it.

Good on you for jumping back into the gigging saddle, too!!

Re: This forum, meeting each other

The only one I have met was Zambizzi, who is no longer active. I ended up going to his birthday party and we are still friends on FB even though he moved across the country.

I almost met Bermuda...

Re: Warning - Hidden dangers of drum building.

This is a serious issue. Thanks for the reminder, Andy. At one point I considered building traditional bows (I'm into traditional archery) and I built a few with good success, but I quickly found...

You have to to look really closely, Andy. They are barely discernible.

Re: The natural meter challenge!

I've been thinking about that, too. I don't have access to my kit yet, so I've been experimenting on a pad to see if more notes vs less notes has an effect on meter. So far nothing conclusive.

Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

Awesome!! I enjoyed both of your selections very much. My son used to play the snare drum the same way when he was a baby, but I have no video, only a still pic. Plus, you know, he's a dude so this...

Re: Looking at your foot

Interesting. I never really thought of that. Do you find it is primarily a distance between beater and head thing, then? We always thing of foot position and action on the footboard.

BTW, nice to...

Re: The natural meter challenge!

I'm willing to give it a whirl. I will be in the studio Wed and will try to get time to try it.

On a similar topic, I walk a lot, and sometimes check my steps per minute when I start vs when I...

Re: Special NAMM guest - Uncle Larry!

Reminds me of the Mitch Hedberg joke-

"This shirt is dry clean only. Which means, it's DIRTY!"

Re: Help identifying kit (60's kit?)

Slingerland sticksaver hoops on the snare and lighter colored tom, but those on the green tom are different. Bass drum appears to be Slingerland too, but the open drum in which the green tom is...

I'm envious but happy for you all! Larry, on the extremely rare chance that you have a layover in Spokane, I could meet you at the airport, lol!!

Re: New kit coming

Looks cool, I'm curious about your feedback on the sizes.

I've always kinda wanted an acrylic kit, but it never made it far enough up the ladder of wants to come home with me.

Re: First "new" equipment purchase in years!!

Thanks, it was too nice to pass up.

Re: First "new" equipment purchase in years!!

Yes, mid-70's and everything is original except the snare wires. I took it apart and cleaned it, no surprises. It's in near-perfect shape!
