Re: Gretsch Brookyln vs Renown

First off I completely agree with Tony. The sound comes from you. So no matter what kit you buy or what genre you play you'll be able to play with just about any kit. Secondly, I've played both the...

Re: castle drum co?

I've heard how difficult jatoba is to work with. I was on a carpenters forum. They use it for flooring because of how hard and dense it is. They also spoke of how it ruined some of their tools and...

Re: castle drum co?

David, it's great to see you here! I actually ended up with the jatoba powder keg. I was tossing around which one to get. I have never got along with 8 inch snare drums so I went with the keystone...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Like a supra........seriously though, no different than any other supra, which is to say it sounds awesome. Unbelievably, I don't already have one. I was in the market anyway so why not, right. If I...

Re: Got my 50th anniversary supra today!

Thanks everyone. The box and all its packings went into a closet. Not sure if I'm going to store the certificate or put it in a frame? I have a snare shelving system at home where the drum sits...

Got my 50th anniversary supra today!

I find I can be so excited because I was in the market anyway as I didn't have one yet. Badge looks great in person. Nothing stamped inside the drum just the usual bar coded tag. The serial number is...

Re: castle drum co?

I ended up with the 14x13x6. Saint, though the jatoba 8" sounds great I just never got on with 8" snares. Not sure but they always feel and sound more like toms to me, and I love big drums. Anyhow,...

Re: castle drum co?

It's likely that I will purchase it. It sounds great to my ear at all the tunings I threw at it. The price is very reasonable. I don't have a stave drum yet. Thanks for all your insight. And congrats...

Re: castle drum co?

Thanks! I didn't even think about the possible clearance issues. I was wondering about the lugs and how the difference in diameter plays in a conical drum as far as tuning, and longevity due to the...

castle drum co?

I'm thinking about grabbing one of their snares. It's stave but the biggest difference with the company is that they or he, makes conical snare drums. It's a maple 14x13x6. Bottom line is it sounds...

Ha! It's just the pic. It's very reachable. I'm short and fat so reach isn't my strong suit!

To each his own. I love my two floors. I have 2 kits with 14,16 and 16,18. The only way to fly in my opinion!

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Honestly it's not hard at all. Clear powerstroke 3 for the batter and coated ambassador for the reso. Piece of felt on the reso is all I have going on. Nothing at all inside the drum. It sounds...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Thanks bull! I am not playing out very much at the moment but I have been pondering the case thing. On my last kick drum which was a 24 x18, I had 4 Atlas mounts and it fit in a 24 x18 protection...
