Re: Snare Sound Help

Definitely get a new head. I'd recommend the Evans HD Genera Dry. Your snares could also be too tight.

Re: Yes, professional grade drum kits are pushed!

Pff, 35 degrees?! For the past week it's been in the negatives all during the day and around -30 to -40 with wind chill at night. I don't think any outside gigs are possible around here right now :)

Re: Dampening!!!!!!

At least it was being innovative. Maybe the fellow who rented it knows something about dampening we haven't caught onto yet? :)

Re: No love for 20" bassdrums?

I personally wish that I had a 20" bass. It seems like it would be so much more versatile. Although I like the 14" depth of my 22" bass.

Re: Need Help with New Kit - From the Ground Up

You are definitely on the right track. Those are all great drums and awesome cymbals. I would think that any of those kits would work for what you want them for. Some other kits that I would...

Re: Craigslist ads crack me up....

Wow, those are expensive drum lessons. I get my lessons for $15 per 1 hour and 10 minutes or so. Although my teacher doesn't come to my home.

Re: Looking For Best Drumset with cymbals!

+1 for this. The pro kit can wait. Get a nice used intermediate kit and focus more on cymbals. The drums will sound great, trust me. Just get a Catalina and nice cymbals and you'll be set.

Re: PEARL MASTERS MCX?

Re: Looking For Best Drumset with cymbals!

AAX and Zildjian A Custom are very odd choices for jazz cymbals IMO. I would take those for rock, metal, and punk and other music styles of that sort. But not for jazz. Those cymbals are good for...
