Re: First time with drum wraps questions

https://precisiondrum.com/

Precision is right down the road from me. They are awesome at selling wraps and re wrapping if you want it done professionally. I'd contact them and start from there....

Re: CL find about an hour from home

That is a STEAL! Orions were as good as any drum out there. WOW, good for you.

Re: CL find about an hour from home

I bet they sound as good as they look. I have Saturn IIIs and I love them. Would never sell.

Re: Who has inspired the most to make people play drums?

Lol, I was half kidding. I knew I'd get someone's attention. But I was never a fan. I've gotten yelled at before for saying that.

Re: Who has inspired the most to make people play drums?

Buddy Rich, Krupa, Mitch Mitchell, Bohnam and Travis Barker made me want to drum. Ringo made me want to practice so I didn't end up sounding like him.

Re: Hoops/Lugs pitting... what can I do about it?

Sorry, I meant aluminum foil. For some reason my parents always called it tin foil growing up and I wrote the wrong thing.

Re: Between 3 kits....

I hate to say it cause I'm a Mapex guy, but I'd go with the Yamaha SCs. Best resale value, smooth sound and easy to add on. I also like that the toms can be mounted on the bass, that is huge for me....

Re: Can't take PDP seriously somehow

I think it is important to remember that PDP changed the market. Back when they first arrived, getting an all maple kit for 1k or less was unheard of. People were still buying Pearl Export. Pacific...

Re: Hoops/Lugs pitting... what can I do about it?

GD is right, it will never get better, only worse. That said, I've had a lot of luck cleaning minor pitting. There are many ways to do it, but I'd start with WD40 and some tin foil. I like using...

Re: Tune Bot - Worthwhile or Not?

I got one a couple years ago. Initially I liked it, but then it got to be as you said, too much of a science. I also found it somewhat confusing at times. Sometimes a drum would tune easily and other...

Re: Heel up - arrrgh!

I think you either need to spend significant time consulting your teacher about this or find a new instructor. Getting technical advice from multiple people on a forum seems to be just increasing...

Re: Good trade?

Yes, you can always trade the acrolite down the road. Is in more demand than that kit is.

I love that he describes it as "good" with a "little wear and tear".

Re: How do I tell my friend that his expensive custom handmade snare is shit?

I once had an engineer swap out my brand new to me at the time, brass Rogers Dynasonic, for a cheap steel Tama snare. It wasn't the end of the world, but he didn't like how I had it tuned and...

Re: I'm thinking about staining the inside of my Pearl SSCs... Am I crazy?

I agree with John, minwax isn't going to alter the sound or damage the drums. It may however damage your resale value if you choose to get rid of them one day. Personally, I wouldn't buy a kit where...

Re: New Tama Artwood birch snare <$200

I have one. I think I got it on sale for around $100. Haven't played it in a couple years but I remember it being ok. Sounds better than many others in that price range, but it also wasn't something...

Re: Mapex Armory's

I played on a set in my local music store and was quite impressed. It seems like they don't get as much praise as they should. At that price, you probably aren't going to get a better set brand new.

Re: THe Conway Slingerlands have been Rescued

I remember quite well back in 2003-2004 when those Taiwan Slingerland kits were being sold new for $400-500. They had hardware packs for like $150. They were low end drums with a once famous name. I...

Re: Beware When Ordering from Canada

Good to see that they respected the "fragile" tag on the box.

Re: THe Conway Slingerlands have been Rescued

Really cool thread, I'm interested to see more pics and what the price tag is on available drums. Unfortunately, I have a bad feeling they are going to be overpriced though.

Re: My new Yamaha Hybrid Maple.

I think that is a really good deal. Used drums, even in great condition, are usually worth way less than the value you got for them. Beautiful kit.
