Re: Will anyone ever write another 'classic'

The classics simply change from generation to generation. My classics range from "Baba O'Riley", "Purple Haze", and "Layla", to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" "Black Hole Sun" and "Rooster". I think for...

Re: Better than the original??.....Noooooo!!!!!!

Re: Better than the original??.....Noooooo!!!!!!

A general rule that I follow is that any cover of a Bob Dylan song is better than the original. Probably applies to Lou Reed too.

Some of my personal favorites in my collection that I like better...

Re: How do you guys learn songs ?

By ear, by watching others drumming to the same song on Youtube, or finding the actual tabs online if all else fails.

Re: Your favourite drum fills of all time, EVER!

That one about 3:36 into The Spirit of Radio by Rush. Loved it since I was a kid.

Re: How much air is in between your hi-hats?

Depends on the song I'm playing. If the song has either an open or closed hat sound for the majority, I pre-adjust the hats to be more open or closed accordingly beforehand. Sometimes distinctly...

Re: Drummers you like on youtube

There's a guy I'm subscribed to called SatansGrandpa who plays a lot of good Iron Maiden covers.

Re: Drums - the stage prop du jour (Grammies content)

I'd rather hear a bad Metallica performance than a good performance by most of the other performers.

Re: Hardcore Drumming 101

What magical college do you go to pal? I see plenty of goofy graphic tees with band names that are phrases at my college. I swear there's nothing that makes me cringe more than a band with a phrase...

Re: hanging bass drum from rack?

Shawn Drover of Megadeth's kit from the United Abominations tour. Quite a complicated looking rack system. The concept really only seems practical for an onstage setup like the one pictured.

Re: Mystery bass drum.... ID help, please!

Definitely Tama, the lugs and screw clamps look virtually identical to the ones on an old Imperialstar bass I recently acquired.

Re: Which Bassist would you hire?

Bit different than asking "who's your favorite". I have to actually think now…

1. Geezer Butler
2. Ben Shepherd
3. Tim Commerford

Re: The tip jar

Sort of like busking huh? I kind of like the idea actually. Seems like that would go over well at an open mic at a coffee house at least. The hipsters will love it.

Re: Dry hands

That's baffling to me, since when my hands sweat my sticks fly out of my hands with the slightest loosening of grip. I'd say chalk in my case would be good, but I don't know if it would help you...

Re: Fastest Drummer's remorse has ever set in?

Heh heh, I kind of went through the opposite. I remember years ago a guy at my local store was telling me about the new Ahead Lars Ulrich sticks when I complained about breaking my wooden ones, and I...

Re: Most Under-rated Drummers

Brad Wilk tops my list probably. I've got a decent amount of respect for Chad Gracey of Live too.

Re: Endorsed to who?

Well I just replaced my lame Sabian B8 splash and crash with a lovely Paiste Alpha crash and a RUDE crash/ride, so now my cymbals are all Paiste. I'd still love an opportunity to snag a Paragon ride...
