Re: Gretsch Renown Maple vs PDP Concept Maple

I'd take the Renown anyday, I'd take a Renown over a Collectors (owned 3 of them) any day. DW is all hype IMO.

Re: New DW Kit, worth it?

I thought DW did away with the Gold Badges, I haven't them on my kit and my previous DW kit either, did they bring them back on certain finishes because I have the Broken Glass Finishply.

Have fun...

Re: New DW Kit, worth it?

Re: Reinforcing rings

my dw collectors had rings and I didn't like them, don't know if thats because it had rings but the DW collector's IMO have a good sound when they're tuned really low and loose, other than that...

Re: Versatile DW Snare

I soon will be using a 5x14 Ludwig Black Beauty. Aside from those two; I've been using a 5x14 Dw Collector's (10 ply + 6 Ply ring) and a dw 5.5x14 Nickle over brass (hated it though and just sold...

Re: DW Maple/Mahogany Collectors shells.

I just sold my DW Collectors (which I bought 5 months ago) because I can't tune them high and if I do they sound awful, they only sound decent when they are very low. I opted for the USA custom kit,...

Re: What Tom Size Is Most Versatile?

I vote for 8x12, I find it works great for anything, I've been using that for my dw collectors and Gretsch Bop kit's, soon on a USA Custom kit too.

Cheers

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz - Mounted Tom

So I answered my own question but I just talked to Gretsch and as of Jan 1 2014 ALL USA Custom kits will get the new G1-GTS mounts similar to the ones found on the new RN1 Renown as standard.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I played with him for a bit at a clinic. I'm just over him I guess, it sounds odd but I used to be his biggest fan when I was young, until I started listening too Tony and Elvin and guys like that.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

O and one more thing. I think Steve smith is one of the most boring, unoriginal drummers I've ever seen. I have taken private lessons with (for 3 hours), been to tons of clinics and a few gigs with...
