or you could divide the circumference (d x Pi, or 14 x 3.14whatever, there's a button on your calculator for this) by the number of lugs, and then measure that out with a tailors tape-measure.

ok, i think i'll try a 2-ply, any reccomendations? i have a clear pinstripe on my actual bass drum at the moment, not really felling it..

at the moment I'm just working with what i have. once i have the cash, I'm getting new heads, I've had my eye on some fiberskyns for a while. a bit off topic, but, don't you have to tune 2-ply's...

I have a coated amb on there at the moment, plus a cue towel touching the head, seems to fit the 'jazz sound' quite well. wouldn't a 2-ply kill it a bit? if i can do a decent job of recording it,...

It'd mostly be for feathering and stuff in jazz, so i hope that won't be too much of an issue...

I have a 13" tom lying round that i don't really use, do you guy's (and gals) reckon it could be converted into a bass drum as the basis of a hipgig kit?
