Re: 8/10/12 or 10/12/13

Out of convenience, I play 8/10 rack and 12 floor right now. No room for a 16 floor right now. But I've made up for the void on the other side of my kit by mounting a 12" q popper side snare off my...

Re: Should I drop $1100 on this Keller Maple Bonham kit?

I'd bonham even care about his kit? There's some folks that know his set up better than he ever did !

Re: After decades, I'm letting go of the 5x14 size

The Copeland has been my main for years. I LOVE it. I have a 7" legend maple with wood hoops that I use from time to time, but for me it's all about brass.

Re: Large setups w/ small drums

Right now im using an 8/10/12 Tom set up, 2 up 1 down... With a mess of cymbals. The smaller dimensions are cool and it saves a bunch of space as well.

Jerry Gaskill of King's X of course.

Ray Rizzo of Days of the New (II & III). He can RIP IT UP.

Re: Just how much would a "Snare side" die cast hoop dry out your snare?

I personally go for a single ply or single & dot head, get some ring but it's more controlled because of the die cast. I use a double ply on my wood drum with wood hoops, to get a dryer sound. The...

Re: Just how much would a "Snare side" die cast hoop dry out your snare?

I too put a die cast on the snare side of my Copeland, although I dig the uniformity.. I haven't noticed any significant sound change. Different head combos have always gotten more attention from me.

Re: Living Colour - what else is out there

All very good suggestions. I love follow for now... But the logical choice here:

Heck the singer of KX even toured in living colour when Corey had obligations on Broadway's few years...

Re: Questions about 14x7" size snares

I have a 14x7 vented Legend Maple snare and I LOVE it. Put wood hoops and a Trick multi step throw off on it too. I like it more than the Tama Portnoy drum I have. I get a fat sound out of the...

Re: Matt cameron vs. Dave abbruzzese

I LOVE soundgarden... Cameron is a huge influence. However I'm not huge on PJ. Having said that though, Krusen's drumming on Ten is legendary.

Re: $4000 for a Tama bell brass snare?

Maybe I'm just broke and naive and young but I couldn't justify putting that much money into one drum... I put about $250 into restoring an old Legend snare (now truly one of a kind) and I thought...

Re: Zildjian Customer Service AAA+++

I sent in a cracked A custom efx 18" couple weeks back.. I think Zildjian has them back ordered because I've been waiting! I love the vented cymbals but they are prone to cracking like no other..

Re: The beauty of only one kit

Plenty happy with my 1 kit.. starclassic b/b/. No need for 2 kits since i don't play jazz (therefore i wouldn't necessarily need drums with a smaller dimension.. mainly bass drum i guess.

Re: The 13 inch floor tom

I typically have a 2 up 2 down setup. 8/10 up and 12/16 down.. But I've done gigs without the 16. I've gotten funny looks for having a 12 floor (hanging tom). Saves s TON of space though, and it...

Re: anyone ever bought drums from guitar center?

I've gotta say their used gear site has some gems. Some even better deals than eBay. Bought a maple Portnoy Tama snare in GREAT shape for over 60% off retail.

Re: My one of a kind 7x14 Legend Snare !

All that stuff was indeed bought and put on the drum by me! It was a bit of a restoration project. I also replaced the top 10 lugs, with new (old stock) from original Legend Drum builder Joe...

My one of a kind 7x14 Legend Snare !

So i bought this shell from a friend for $30. Legend drums, which no longer exists (Kaman operated it before they acquired the rights to Gretsch drums). 7x14 maple shell... with four 2.5" vent holes....
