Re: Should you always be keeping time with the left foot?

20-30 mins on pad/drums - rudiments/patterns. LH and RH trips, LH and RH 16ths --> sfs (so each pattern is a 4-day cycle)

20-30 mins on focus/coordination - currently working from...

Re: What is your main struggle?

looseness and rolls/rudis/hands on gigs. in the garage, i'm loose as a goose. on stage, i can keep the beat great, but even if i hear a roll in my head i have so much trouble executing.

Re: 15 for 30 challenge!

25 for 30 last night. I'm getting the hang of it. Trying to run through different grooves, fills, etc without losing the 'feel' of the time. Going to an open jam tonight, I will report back to see...

Internalizing the time (and not just counting) is a big key. The "15 for 30" thread may be for you. Playing at 40bpm is a great exercise for this, but you need to do it for a loooooong stretch of...

Re: 3-dimensional drumming

Great place to start. You need to work on the rudi's too, and the strokes (single, double, buzz, etc). DS family is the key to jazz, learn to play that LH&RH leads as trips and 16ths with the...
