Re: Trimmed down kits

Well I certainly have generated quite a firestorm of a debate from just a simple observation/judgement. I think I can winnow down the truth from some of what you have touched on in your individual...

Re: Best drums under $1500?

The new Pork Pie Hipgig is around a grand but the drums sound like they're worth two grand and the lugs are way cool retro. I was thinking about putting down 1200 on Ludwig Centennial kit but when...

Re: My New Pork Pie Hip Pig Kit

After months of searching and almost pulling the trigger on a Luddy Centennial kit I've heard these piggies sing and I am a born again Pork Pie convert. Thanks for letting me see the light and the...

Re: Most Under-rated Drummers

Rod Harper-Santana's woodstock band and beyond...This guy was ridiculously talented. I am surprised he is not on this website's list of drummers frankly.

Re: Ludwig Centennial line erratum

I found the smallest of the three-the dragster kit-priced less than moto-but the moto is still the priciest of the three and the zep kit has a 26 inch kick. The moto a 24 and the dragster a 22.

Ludwig Centennial line

Does anyone know why the smaller shell sized kits i.e., both the moto and dragster kits are priced higher than the zep kit which is the larger shelled kit?

Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

Amen brother...I've seen so many talented drummers do with a four piece what few could hope to do with a sixteen piece kit.

Re: Any thoughts on Ludwig Supralite steel snare?

I'm close to getting the centennial zep kit and I really wanted to match it up with a snare made by the same company. I was thinking of Ludwig's Black Magic snare but that's over 3 hun.

Years...

Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

Me too it looks like a pair of fake breasts-too perfect-too even. The one up and one or two down looks lean and mean.

Re: Any thoughts on Ludwig Supralite steel snare?

I am thinking of the 6.5 x 14 for some deeper punch I hope.

Any thoughts on Ludwig Supralite steel snare?

I have to be honest I'm attracted to the price but if anyone could comment on tone, quality, etc. I would be appreciative.

Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

Absolutely true so to the poster who asserted that this is a cyclical phenomenon big kits are gone.

The ubiquity of smaller kits

More and more drummers I've seen lately are opting for one kick, one rack and one or two floor toms. Most probably are using double kick pedals but it seems the era of 10 rack toms and two kick drums...

Re: Used Premier XPK Kit

The set comes with spurs and tom holders and there appear to be no noticeable blemishes, scratches or other wear marks. Seems to me the seller may be low balling the asking price but kudos for me if...

Used Premier XPK Kit

I recently ran across on the web a six piece XPK kit with two bass drums. The finish is beautiful and the seller is asking almost 600.00 for it. Any thoughts/insights??

Re: Trimmed down kits

I am a big fan of AXES tv and virtually every gig they air has the drummer playing one up and one/two down. The rare exception is two up and one/two down. Haven't seen a double bass kit except for...

Re: Trimmed down kits

I just saw Jane's Addiction and the drummer had one up one down with hats, a ride and one crash. He smoked that kit like I haven't seen since I first saw Gergo Borlai make sounds from a four piece...

Trimmed down kits

I've been seeing more and more drummers even of the heave rock genre playing one up and one or two tom down kits. It's refreshing for aspiring drummers that they don't need to buy the monster size...
