Re: Philly Joe Jones

Those are all excellent sessions - why not pick them all up (used on Amazon is next to nothing)?

I like Working the best, personally. Red Garland and Philly trade some stuff that is just so...

Re: Zeppelin II Inner Gatefold

Hi - this isn't really directly Bonham related, but this forum is a friendly spot and I thought someone here might have some info I'm looking for.

I've always liked the Zeppelin II inner gatefold...

Re: Elvin Jones

Yeah, it probably would have been pretty hard to come up as a drummer during that time and not be checking out Elvin Jones and Max Roach and Clyde Stubblefield and Blakey and guys like that.

Re: John Bonham

Very cool - That's pretty much what I come up with too. Only thing I hear differently is that I don't think Bonham articulates every 8th on the HH during that intro. I can hear the HH breathing a...

Re: John Bonham

I'd just count (in time): "1 2 3". Then you're in immediately.

Example: You could say, in time: 1 2 3, but think: 1-and 2-and- 3-play - the "play" is where you start playing - the "and of 3". ...

Re: John Bonham

If you count 8th notes in time as "1-and 2-and 3-and 4-and", the downbeats are the numbers (when you say "1", "2", "3", "4"); the upbeats are when you say "and".

Alot of people count this way. ...

Re: John Bonham

Hi fussion - here's is my interpretation of it. There are a few different opinions on this (as you know), but I think this is super close to - maybe exactly - what he plays.

Playing it as it is...
