Not sure what you are getting at but every african rythm I've learned is a a repeating pattern. your instructor is either soloing, just winging it or showing off.

Try and find some instructional...

Any drum kit is better than no drum kit. Even playing Rockband drums is better.

Get an E-kit, at least you'll b playing and developing. plus you won't have to stop playing when your parents come...

Kind of like country rock, I ended up listening to as many as the songs from that show as I could there is some good drumming and playing from everyone.

Do they make a 5 or 4 piece package. I'd rather spend money on nice cymbals and buy a low end kit with decent hardware but would rather have a simple kit.

What Bob said... tighten carefully, you don't want to crush the wood fibers of the shell by overtightening. Definately post some pics if it doesn't look straight forward, and you...

Wonder if it would be beneficial to steam it some or even soaking it so the wood softens before you start torquing on it.

I found a date stamp inside my drum that reads AUG 11 1958. Under further inspection some of the hardware was overtightened and damaged the shell slightly.
