Re: Tama Starclassics!

They are 1998, 16 years old. I got tired of them, the hanging floor tom was a 15" that always sounded "heady" the 8 & 10 were unbelievable and so was the kick with Evans EQ3 batter. I also have a...

Re: Tama Starclassics!

I believe the performers are all birch. The newer are birch/bubinga, which one is it? How many pieces and in what condition? Tama are good drums but for some reason unknown to me at least they do...

Answers could and would be varied without actually hearing the tune.

Re: Ludwig Tom Mounts

Go with the new Atlas brackets they do not cut sustain or resonance and are clean looking and have a separate insert for 9.5mm L-rod if needed.

Re: Adding a tom to my DW kit

Where did you buy them in the first place, if possible go back to the dealer or find the closest DW dealer. I've had great success and nothing but great things to say about Dales Drum Shop in...

Re: John Good Interview

I own a set and have to say it is an aquired taste as far as the sound goes. They are FAR from boxy and tune up well. The shell notes to me is not what you have to tune to, all this concept is is...

CAN'T HEAR THE DRUMS

Why is it on concert video and an on t.v. a lot of times all that is present are the vocals and lead guitar? I hate watching a drummer hit his drums and cymbals and they are totally silent in most...

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

SOL for me, no 18" floor tom in the future.
Is Ludwig the only company that has these wrap problems or do others? It seems they always have this sort of thing come up.

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

Congradulations! Mine took exactly 12 weeks to the day literally. How are you going to mount the 14? You will want to change out the heads fairly soon if not immediatley.

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

As far as the spurs go I've only had them on carpet so far and so far absolurely no problem. My 24 sounds real good and remember if you do install the new brackets you are going to have to up your...

Problem with Atlas Arch

I know a few of you have the Arch installed on your bass drum as I do but have you taken your kits out for gigs with them? The reason for this is I just had mine out for the second time last night...

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

[QUOTE=Road Bull;1254108]Thanks for the responses all.

I am not necessarily trying to reproduce John Bonham's drum sound or anything too specific. I do like a lot of the sound and feel of that...

Re: About to order some Bonham sized Ludwigs Classic Maples. Got questions.

This is one of my kits, it's not Bohnam size it is 14x24, 16x16 and 9x13 with atlas arch mount and bass drum cymbal arm bracket in black glass glitter similar to what you are looking at. A 14" as a...

Re: 12" tuning.

The ear proximity thing is true and one factor if it is your second tom. Also the mounting but if you have a ride cymbal partially over it and close to the head this also affects 'deadens' the...

Re: How Does Your Bass Drum Sit?

The height of the front is the same as the back, the thickness of the bass drum pedal base. If the drum is level then the pedal clamp won't put stress on the hoop and choke out the tone. Check out...

Re: Using a 10'' tom as main rack

The 10" is my main tom on my DW's but I have 8,10,12 up which to me helps. Now, my band practice kit is an old Tama Granstar kit that I have broken down to use as an 11" main tom with a 15" floor. ...

Re: Price for Tama Starclassic Maple

To me not a popular configuration and between the color and being knicked up I'd say they are worth 455 Euro's. I just sold a Starclssic Maple kit in excellent condition - 8,10,12,15,22 with stands...

Re: First use of a click

I stand corrected, I never noticed the 16th notes. I think it speeds up a little also.

As far as the clave sound goes that means nothing since you can make the click sound like just about...

Re: First use of a click

Another obvious example is the song All Right Now by Free released in 1970, the click is an audible part of the song. Does anybody know if that was intentional or a mistake that couldn't be fixed.

Re: New DW Kit, worth it?

Yes, congradulations clear black dot batters sound great on those but......

They probably ordered the kit with those badges because the newer black ones would look like crap with that finish. ...

Re: New DW Kit, worth it?

That's a good deal take it. I have the exact kit plus an 8". I originally bought it without the 16" since their 14's sound like a 16 but added it a couple of years ago. Anyway I bought them in...

Re: Are 13" toms obsolete?

I just recently in my older years have gone back in time to the good old days ( full circle )purchasing a 13,16,24 Ludwig Legacy kit. The 13 and16 were pretty much the norm in the 60's, the 13 will...
