Re: The gig that you turned down, and it's a good thing you did!

Re: Drum/music Terminology: Downbeat

We're all entitled to our own opinions.

We're not all entitled to our own facts.

Downbeat is a musical term. It has a meaning...just the one meaning.

Just like shuffle, quarter note, snare...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

Do not contact the seller and ask him to confirm sizes.

Pretty sure that's a 23" bass drum.

Re: What do I buy and do?

Depending on when and how long and how often you intend practising, you may be able to have acoustic drums and good relations with your neighbours.

Re: A New Journey

Awww man, Mitch, I was very saddened to read this.

You've always struck me as one of the good ones.

Wishing the very best of whatever it takes.

Enjoy them.

They look superb.

And if you haven't already discovered it, they come supplied with decent heads.

Re: Convince me not to buy a Saturn V...

The OP wants to be convinced not to buy a set of Saturns.

Without turning into you-know-who, I love mine and the general consensus here seems to be that they are excellent value for money.

He...

Re: Convince me not to buy a Saturn V...

When I bought my Saturn kit a beefy kick drum was part of the motivation. ETA... With 22" kick.

Love my Saturns so much that I no longer have drum related GAS issues.

Nearly forgot... Don't...

Re: Do guitarists generally dislike rests on drums?

It's not so much a case of blaming the drummer, simply a case of deferring to the drummer.

Particularly in songs where there is a ringing chord, the drummer provides an agreed upon time for the...

Re: Are you amused or offended when someone standing near you mimes your playing?

Hang on...in this vid there's a girl shaking her assets like crazy, all but falling out of her top...humping the guitar dude's leg...and this might cause offence?

How in the hell could that ever...

Re: Mixing wood types in one drum kit

Re: Mixing wood types in one drum kit

That's just crazy!

Don't you know that you have to choose just one brand, and then insist that all other brands are inferior?

My understanding is that custom drums are for the dude with idiosyncratic...

Re: Those of you who use less cymbals...

The idea of the cymbal "note" matching the music is a flawed one.
