Re: 1987 Yamaha Tour Custom

Ahhhh, nice. I too used to have a set of Tour Customs. In Cobalt Blue. Loved the drums, didn't care for the colour much.
Anyway, to clean them - good 'ol Dunlop GT66. Spray bottle….cleaner and a...

Generally, I agree. I think it will come around eventually though - might take a year or so.

Re: Tell me if this is a stupid idea

Yeah I drop a stick every once in a while. No big deal.
I used to drop sticks a lot when I was younger…actually would practice playing with one stick for this reason. It's a real test to your...

Re: The side snare

I have a couple different ones and I really like using them on certain songs.
Lately, I've been using a 10"x5" Sonor Designer as a side snare and I've been tuning it waaaaaaaay down and using a...

Re: Looking for solid value kit on a $1500-$1700 budget.

Hi there, just chiming in.
Judging from the links you posted, I'm guessing you're in New Brunswick, not far from the Sabian factory actually.

Please take the good advice already given - it...

Thanks Wes, I agree! Yours are beautiful as well.

Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

I am in Canada. I bought a 5 piece set of DW Collectors a few years ago for $700. 10/12/15/20+14x5 snare in a dark blue lacquer.
They were beat up...cosmetically. After new heads all around, new...

Ahhhhh! Forgot all about this. Beautiful, Jason!! Nice touch with the SoCalMike-supplied (no doubt) cover plate as well. It looks fantastic - you're pleased with the results?

I love my cut-down...

Re: Opinions on what to do with these old ludwig Classic Maples?

Anybody else notice the 13x14 tom has a gazillion lugs ?
Marching snare re-wrap methinks.
Doesn't really matter, just an observation….

Re: The best kits we've ever made - Honest Capture videos!

Maybe take out a few words and change the title : " The best drums ever. "
I didn't like big sizes until this video with that stave walnut kit. Now I think I need that set or at least a set with...

Re: Should I get this snare?

I have had Black Beauties and Supras, but for my buck, the lowly 8-lug, $100-on-ebay, aluminum Acrolite or Blackrolite is the one that suits me best…probably because I prefer wood snares overall...

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Just wanted to reiterate that the spurs, while light duty, are fine for the drum…the only problem with them is that they don't work that well specifically on a Club Date shell, because of the very...

Re: Microscopic damage! Grrr!

Bo, I was going to mention this before but I don't think you ever had a Rydeen shell there to begin with.

In pictures you've posted, I saw that the drum had rectangular lugs with flat tops, a...

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Ahhh, I get it. Great tip, thanks!
I'm going to try and see if a pair of the Dunnett gull wing spurs fit these, would be a nice little upgrade. Your trick would still apply I think…

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Yes, absolutely. The spurs suck, and they don't fold up nicely either, because the loonnngggg tension rods prevent them from folding up close to the shell. Makes it a bit difficult to put into a bag....

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Insane deal. I got mine on blowout for $625 - 12/14/20 in Ruby Sparkle and felt like I stole them for that. They are a great gigging kit, especially when I don't want to bring one of my lacquered...

Re: Why aren't Recording Customs popular today?

I dunno, they seem to still be popular around here. There is a lot of competition, that's for sure. I think people tend to hold on to them maybe?
I just got an email from a friend yesterday - a...
