Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

We don't do Foo Fighters tracks ;)

Having read this thread, I have a foot in both camps. This is a business deal on the basis of effectively selling advertising space. No more, no less. That...

Re: Pearl VBL vs Tama Superstar Hyperdrive

The video sound, like most videos, is processed, so not a great guide really. I've had several Visions through my finishing shop, as well as other lower tier Pearls, & every one of them had bearing...

Re: Is it just me?

I've never regarded K's as that dark really, just on the little softer & less cutting side of things. Agree with the unmic'd observation in a loud stage setting observation though.

I have two...

Re: More creative drumming with a cape on?

Is that simply not a cape with integral hood? Anyhow, for live work, Ben deploys a more compact cape. There may be something in this cape ratio theory. Perhaps his photo shoot cape adds coolness...

Re: Rhythm Magazine/Music Radar review - Guru In-Tense english ash snares.

Thanks Jonathan :) Yes, price is subjective indeed. I can only assume that the reviewer felt the drum didn't represent exceptional value for money, although Rhythm Magazine inform me that the...

Re: More creative drumming with a cape on?

Ben has huge artistic vision, & proves that through the success of his band. I've never seen him parallel park though, so you may have a point there ;)

Re: Custom Kit Advice - Mixing Wood

That's absolutely true, but some constructions feature the wood species fundamental much more than others, & when that's the case, the tonal variation between dissimilar species can be very obvious...

Re: Custom Kit Advice - Mixing Wood

Absolutely not. I have no interest in supplying a drum to you. We don't do custom stuff, & to clarify, we craft in house every form of solid shell construction, not just stave.. We only offer...

P85 - I think you have to be reactive ;)

Re: Custom Kit Advice - Mixing Wood

The affect of the inner ply is overrated IMO. It does have a greater affect on the drum's characteristics compared to the other plies, but only in terms of the internal finish & relative hardness. ...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

On my 6 piece setup, I sometimes "wrap around" up the toms left hand lead. That usually opens a few eyes ;) Creative? - nah, just a bit quirky :)

Re: worth it?

This isn't the first "should I or shouldn't I" thread someone's started having already made the decision. Seeking validation seems to be a common theme. I doubt this will be the last time :)

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Cannot the need to react be the catalyst for creativity? I think it's perfectly possible to react creatively. Perhaps a player is creative by instinct, & therefore that player reacting...

Re: Rhythm Magazine/Music Radar review - Guru In-Tense english ash snares.

Thank you so much for that :) Yes, there are wooden snares costing considerably more than ours. I can't answer for them. All I can do is keep our costs as low as possible without impacting the...

Re: Post your Zoom Q3 recordings :)

I'm not picking up any modulation through my reference cans, so all's good :) Distortion in the digital realm tends to happen suddenly. There's a very defined threshold. Meters are what meters are...

Yeah, blunt as butter! ;)

Not exactly a big ending Bill, but some cool crowd pleasing solo stuff nonetheless :)

Re: Custom Kit Advice - Mixing Wood

It's a well trodden path, but not something you mess with without knowing your craft intimately & doing the R&D to prove it out. Like all drums, it's the combination of all design features, not just...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Most regrettably, this is the single biggest defining aspect that applies to me in this thread. I have all the imagination & creativity in the world, but sadly lack the ability to translate that to...

Re: Q Drum Co.

Did I miss something - when did solid shell drums factor into this thread? Confused.

Anyhow, congratulations on the copper shell drums. Extremely short voiced drums, & sound great as an...

Re: Rhythm Magazine/Music Radar review - Guru In-Tense english ash snares.

Larry, lucky for you I'm an animal lover, otherwise said ducks would be shot mercilessly! I didn't think you were a pink man ;) Sorry, Guru is a wrap fee zone. Wraps are fine on drums with a...

You're not wrong there Grea - we're not exactly "cutting edge" ;) Love your version of SOYL, it's how it should be, whereas our version is specifically designed to wind up Larry & all other verbatim...
