Re: Changing your set up for mic position?

Ugh, I always get into it with the sound guys when it comes to my kit. All of my toms, snare, and hats sit so tight its hard to get the snare mic in just right. I'd rather the mic at a funky angle...

Re: Making Drum Covers

I just started some rough recordings for covers on Youtube today, actually! I tried quite a few different methods, and my favorite (not the easiest, but sounds best) is to record the audio/video...

Re: Drummers and Motor Vehicles

I was intentional when I bought my car to buy and SUV (Montero Sport) instead of a sedan/car for just this reason. Nice and roomy for my kit!!!

Nice solid grooves. And I. Love. Your. Kit. The Saturns have some of the prettiest finishes of any drums! Love them.

Killer sounding snare too.

Re: Providing a backline drum kit

I do know that anytime I go on vacation I leave part most of my kit behind, but refuse to leave my cymbals. I've got a signed contract saying that if anything is broken, mistreated, scratched, etc...

I did, sort of.

I graduated HS in May of 2008 and picked up and moved to Boston (from Atlanta) My girlfriend also moved with me, but other than that, and a cheap apartment I'd found through a...

Re: wow, thrones make a difference

I wanted to buy that OCDP one too :( But it was 140 at mine, so I got the Tama that was 120. Motorcycle style.

It was an upgrade from my old single braced no namer, and I gotta tell you it DOES...

Re: A phenomenom in drum recording!

I think the CHEAPEST thing I've ever done with recording drums (I'm almost embarrassed to say... but we were just messing around to see if it would work)

We put a stage monitor next to the bass...

So bummed I missed it man! Sounds like it was a frickin' BLAST!

Re: Best metal song to play

I'm not a HUUUGE metal fan (ok, I'm bluffing a little)...

But if I could ever get myself to the level of Trivium's new drummer. Check out Shattering the Skies Above. Pretty good drum track :)

Re: The better the sound of the drum the more you enjoy playing?

If there wasn't a 20 character limit I'd have simply posted

All jokes aside, whenever I fresh tune my drums (like getting new heads 2 days ago...) I just can't stop playing them, or...

Re: My rant on the Metronome...

Using a metronome for recording purposes I can understand (for most genres) Especially in music where separate tracks are laid down for each instrument. It would be very difficult, if not impossible...

Re: Is It Possible For Me to Have My Own Custom Kit

No prob. Welcome to DW!

Have you thought about seeking endorsements for smaller companies? I know there are a few that you'd probably have a slightly better chance than with Ludwig. Other than...

Re: Good tom angels? Dont awnser this if you think this is stupid-im learning ok?

Depends on who you ask. Some people like them at 45 degrees, some flat.

Really depends on your style I guess. I like mine at a steeper angle than most, but heck, thats just me.

Re: Is It Possible For Me to Have My Own Custom Kit

First, I'd advise against the F word. Not to sound like your parent, but I've heard that mods do nasty things to people that use bad words. Just a heads up :D

Anyways, endorsments are a very...

I do! Then again, who doesn't... They do sell those 'real' things for $50 from Musicians Friend, but hey, my pillow was free!

Re: sorry but i have to, BIG DRUM KITS

My typical setup is I guess what yall would call big. But with my roadies help (and my rack!) it takes me about 15 minutes to set up. It has a fairly small footprint (smaller than the rug)

I set...

Re: Jumping/Standing on the bass drum

Did I mention I play a cheap fiber-board drumset? And I still lost it!?

I wouldn't recommend it. It's more than just tearing...
