Re: Are you sick of the term "POCKET DRUMMER"?

Not exactly a fan of "pocket drumming", but I believe in making it a goal in every song I write to play at technical and unique/original as possible while maintaining good groove and "pocket...

Re: Joey Jordison Question???

He is overrated, but he is damn good. To do what he does, day in and day out...not many drummers would survive in his spot. Just saying...having spent time in a top notch studio working with a big...

Re: Favorite drum tone?

I'm a hard rock drummer, so I use emps on the toms, but no dampening is needed if you tune those babes to perfection for a low, punchy sound, yet still resonant and wide open with natural overtones...

Re: How do you listen to music

Best way possible is cd quality...mp3s lose alot of depth and character. So I like to get mp3s directly from the cd if possible, then listen on the ipod. Cds the easy to go quality wise though!

Re: Do you warm up before a gig? How?

I never warm up. I find if I try too hard to warm up and loosen up, I over think stuff more than just letting it play natural. I set up, fine tune, get ready, and just play lol. Time is a big...

Re: Metal drumming without double bass

Yeh he can get brutal when called for, and is technical in a way that alot of people cant hear, as far as intricate ghost note patterns on the snare, odd hits and time signatures with his hi hats,...

So recently, very recently, I decided to downsize my kit mainly for the sake of a quicker easier setup and tear down for gigging, but also to push my limit for skill. What I mean by this is making...

Re: Similarities between jazz and black metal (or other genres)?

There are alot of similarities, although I dont know about death metal or black metal quite as much as more modern metal. But for example, two of my favorite drummers are The Rev from A7X (RIP) and...

Re: Metal drumming without double bass

I still consider them metal. I even consider like The Deftones metal, even if alot of "extreme metal" drummers say likewise.

Which brings to the next thing I just wanted to say....how bout...

Re: How to become a 'local' drummer

Just find like minded friends/associates and put together a little jam, having a few covers lined up and planned out. Then just let things work naturally and youll know if you...

Re: Drum fill mentality

When jamming with my band at a practice session, I like to not really know what Im going to do...allows for more feel and natural responses. Then if its likeable as a possible future song of ours,...

Re: Why is it the fashion to remove your low tom, and replace with a ride?

I love havin my ride closer....where a third/second tom would be. Allows me to have it more in arms reach, as well as do double handed stuff on my one ride instead of having to have two rides. Very...

Re: How much should I charge for lessons?

I only have one student (sort of a test run for me teaching) and I usually give one lesson per week, either one hour lesson, or two half hour lessons per week, and I charge him only $40 per month. ...
