Re: What annoys you on peoples drum sets?

I have to agree, I have seen some drummers on here (amatuers) who have amazingly expensive and large kits. But once I heard their playing the two just didn't go together meaning their playing...

Re: Best Drum Track Of All Time

I wouldn't even know where to begin! There have been too many drum tracks recorded and none of us has heard them are.

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

I have the utmost respect for DOM, but I also do not take everything professional drummers say as gospel. Some would say you have to have some talent others would say you don't. Again it is all...

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

Well you have kind of agreed with me in a sense, by saying how much determination you have and how you used it to become a drummer. You have to have determination to do anything in life and we all...

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

I will say this to say someone is no-name and better than Weckl is more of an opinion than fact. I love when people say someone is better than someone at something, but they are a no-name? Like guys...

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

I have to agree, as politically correct as it is to say "you can do anything you set your mind too" unfortunately that is not the case. I equate drumming to golf, which is my other passion and I know...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

http://www.jonathanmover.com/ has some very good examples of his playing. And he does have a page on this site as well.

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Well for starters since you live in best you have one of the best music schools in the world in our back yard - BERKLEE! Have you thought about trying to get in? Also practice, practice, practice....

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

I have never heard of you before this site and once I saw FUTILE, my mouth dropped! You are incredible that song reminds me of something Johnathan Mover would play with some of the odd time stuff,...

Re: Alex Van Halen

I meant Rock drummers at that time. I did not say all drummers. And yes as far as rock drumming goes, he was not as good as any of those guys. His playing was always sloppy to me live.

Re: can i have a go on your kit?

Not to be a jerk but I just usually gave irritating responses to people who asked. Remember most of them are half in the bag when they ask so you can pretty much slip in some good answers and they...

Re: When do you consider yourself a drummer??

I think it is very simple as choki said it, there is no requirement. Yes there are different levels of drummers, but no one thing makes you a drummer.

Like the guy I saw Friday night at a local...

Re: What drum kit should I buy?

Here are some suggestions:

1. Go to a couple of local stores and test them out and see what fits into your budget and when I mean budget I mean include hardware, cymbals, pedals etc. Some drummers...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

Well all of these drummers kits on DW on the recordings I have heard sound just as amazing to me: Marco Minnemann , Neil Peart, Matt Chamberlain(also plays DW), Matt Sorum, Gerald Heyward, Tony...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

I had my first DW5000 for 16 years before I bought this one 2 years ago and it never gave me one problem, I finally got rid of it because it was old and had done all it could and I bought that pedal...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

Okay but that is still at least $6000.00 for a non DW kit isn't that about the same a custom DW kit will cost? So is a Pearl Artisan worth the cash.

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

There is nothing wrong with that all the companies do it. I'm a huge supporter of NIKE athletic wear and my local store does not carry any of it, why? because you must take $100K of inventory. To...

Re: Neil Peart

It doesn't annoy me to say that he is over-rated, I was just stating my opinion on why I think he isn't over-rated. But if you make a statement that saying every 1 out of 5 drummers from Berklee or...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

And with your post I agree if we are talking about two equally quality kits, like a Tama Starclassic which are awesome sounding kits by the way, as much as I love DW am I going to pay that much more...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

Great post Stu, I don't know why people want to try to discredit DW? You are going to pay for quality and DW produces high quality kits that can be customized to just about any finish you want, but...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

I disagree to a point, I've seen some talented drummers play in the local bar scene but their kits sounded like crap because they were playing crappy kits. My first kit was a continental blue sparkle...

Re: Tony Williams

I just got his DVD from 1989 from Jazz Legends.com and it is incredible. You want to see someone who basically taught himself how to play and aspired to the level he was at is amazing. The songs are...
