Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

I've noticed that my fills on a 4 piece seem to rely less on starting on the high tom and working down to the floor tom. I use the bass drum more in them as well.

Probably not more creative, but...

Re: The matching snare

Re: hi hat dis-assembly

I have an iron cobra. I take the top tube off, unscrew the rod, and put the rod in the bottom tube and put the top one back on. It only takes a few seconds. It makes the stand shorter for transport...

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

Here's the problem. The more musicians play for free, the more they will play for free.

I won't do it anymore even if it means I don't play. It doesn't have to much, but I feel it's giving us a...

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

Bingo! I believe if we all refused to play for free just to benefit bar owners musicians in general would benefit.

Re: What's the best things about your playing?

The best part of my playing is keeping good time. I also listen to the other musicians and try to compliment them.

Re: Ringo Starr... Good or bad?

He was the drummer for Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison and he didn't get fired.

That's all I need to know.

Just getting musicians to stop playing for free would be a huge accomplishment.

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

I bought a floor tom basket thingy. Terrible.

I also bought a bass drum cradle. Really stupid.

Re: The Muscle Shoals Sound

I just watched this. I had no idea about it. It blew me away. It's sad that kind of recording is dead or dying.

Dayum, I was just in the hospital and I never mentioned it once.

Oh well, my luck was more than made up with the outcome of the visit.

Re: Good day/bad day check-in

OK, I'm a little late but this weekend I had a pretty incredible good day bad day experience.

First, it was a bad day when I went to the doctor and felt like I had run a marathon when I hadn't. He...

Re: Argument with Guitarist over time signature

YOU are counting the ride one 1 and 4. HE is feeling it on every downbeat, with the snare on 2 and 4, the most common way a backbeat is felt. What you describe can counted both ways. I would count it...

Re: Other musicians' view of drums.

Interesting. I would love to learn a real instrument. :-) I started to take bass lessons, but I only have barely enough time to keep up what meager chops I have on drums.

Re: My bizarre, ego-destroying experience

Who would even think about doing this to somebody in their own private rehearsal space? If you were messing up at rehearsal, *maybe* (and I'm not sure he should have put it that way)

This guy is a...
