Re: DW aquires Gretsch and Latin Percussion...

I actually agree with this statement. The original line, although over hyped, over endorsed and consequently, over priced, did sound way superior to what I have come across lately.
They laid waste...

Re: Carmine Appice Lobbies For Led Zeppelin Drum Spot

Carmine is reminding me of the Wailin Smash videos. Hey Robin Trower, if you are listening, give me a call. ROTF LMAO.
They can both audition for the Stones Steel Wheelchair Tour.

C'mon you old...

Re: acrylic wood hybrid (3rd post)

Send him to Ghostnote, hmmmm, thanks Andy.
Well, I guess we could have some fun with him, as long as he pays the $20 for a drum labs membership before we have our way with him.

Re: Diy Acrylic Wood Hybrid HELP!!

OK, you have no clue, and claiming you are building a $10,000 custom kit is like a billboard proclaiming this.

If I were to invest $10,000 while building a kit, I am sure I could do a cast cymbal...

Re: anybody know whats going on with Vaughncraft?

The repaired re-ring in this picture will probably play and survive just fine, I would be more concerned that it is two steam bent shells glued together to make one. I think I prefer my solid shells...

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta back with Yamaha?

Why not mention him by name? I have bought some parts and have chatted back and forth through emails with him. He seems like a down to earth good dude. And his snare drums are some of the best...

Re: Premier Resonator snare drum liner?

I am intrigued Blackduck. post up some video and share.
In the 80's, I like probably hundreds of others, lusted over the black double bass resonator kit Premier had in their catalogue. Unfortunately...

Re: Solid shell snare?

A huge subject that would be really hard to define in a simple forum post.
para diddle Pete. I love those two snare drums. Especially the first with the little hotel logo.
Personally I will only...

Re: Confusion on rolls - open or closed?

WOW! You should just call your buzz rolls the "closed mind roll"
Chad Wackerman explained in detail the lengths Murray Spivak went to instil the importance of building a buzz roll using 3 strokes...

Re: Special Bubinga

Thank You. For now I am keeping it. I have a fellow builder who has offered to buy if I Name a price. I put so much time into this build, and this wood is so rare I doubt I can repeat it, So I want...

Re: drum hardware sites

2 1/4" is not strange. If you step up and spend a little more for Allstar or in Canada, Champagne makes similar. The Posts are fully adjustable on the threaded tubes so they can be fitted to any hole...

Re: Who does this, really?

Funny Andy should mention kicking down the stairs thing.
I used a set of Milestones on the road for a good 10 years, (later became Tempus). Those drums were indestructible and there was some icy...

Re: Special Bubinga

I was at Century Mill Lumber at the right moment. They got in a load of Bubinga and only one board was like this. It sold for big money, and I got the live edge cut offs. (only $28!!!) The Lumber...

Re: Special Bubinga

After brushing about 12 coats of Polyurethane, I let it dry for a month. I have a full shop with spray equipment, but as I am sure you will see, this does just a good a job. Secret is lots of wet...

Special Bubinga

I was able to buy the cut offs from a spalted and worm holed slice of Bubinga. It was just enough to build a 13X7 snare. Hope you like as much as I do.

Re: I went away and everything changed!

I am 51, started playing clubs at 17 and I thought taking 1 whole year without a drumstick was such a radical idea. I did that once, my next gig came with no rehearsal not even a kit set up and warm...

Re: I think I'm losing it

The voice is a muscle and controlled by other muscles. you may need to reach a point where you are not pushing to the point of straining? your ability should heal if it is strained. Singing takes...

Re: I re-cut my bearing edge today

Good for you, although a good edge can be had quicker and easier if you could put the router bit in an actual router.

And let us not underestimate the attributes of the chainsaw.
I did turn this...

Re: Country drummers!

This post is a little late, the Country Revolution, that ship has sailed. I was on the circuit in Canada since about 1992? I find for the fall fairs, corporate one nighter's, that peaked around...

Re: Hand-feet independency double bass drum

Yes, super slow so your mind can truly link the two limbs. If you don't really go turtle slow at first, you may just find one limb just sort of following along. Really getting the impact of both...

Re: Maple custom absolute! wow!

A little confusing. Is it two 3 piece kits, 6 drums total? Or is it one set frankensteined using two lines, only 3 drums total?

For two kits with bags, sounds like a good enough deal. I am not a...
