Tony Royster Jr. Groove

Hey all,

I saw this video posted on the forums maybe a year ago and I've always wondered what he was doing at about 00:52. Can anyone shed some light on this? A transcription would be the best. :)...

Re: Won't get fooled again?

Time to dispel a myth: the drumming on this track was not overdubbed, in the critical sense of the word. I have the DVD (The Kids Are Alright) that this is taken from, and on the director's...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3obigouN7w

I can't figure out what's going on at about the 41 second mark, after the fill. The groove sounds really good, but I tried writing it out and I just...

Re: Playing Face...

Keith Moon ;)

Also, I've noticed that I like when musicians smile while playing, e.g. Papa Jo Jones and Eddie van Halen.

Re: "professional drumbeat"?

Maybe one that sounds tight, like they'd hear on the radio?

I'm sure that's what you were already playing though. ;)

Re: Weird Question

I figured I could also just take all of them and put them between two 2x4's and tighten it to make a row of all of them. It would make a pretty killer youtube video. ;)

Weird Question

Alright guys, this is probably pretty strange.

I was cleaning out the basement today, and found a large box labeled "pots & pans". I opened it up and found a large assortment of pots and pans....

OK, maybe someone from the glam rock era, nothing too strange...

Re: Looking for new songs

Are you talking about The Joker? The first line is "Some people call me the space cowboy", and it has a pretty great bassline. Just wondering, in case I'm missing a great tune!

Re: What annoys you on peoples drum sets?

Two things that annoy me:

When the logos on the heads aren't facing the right way. Maybe that's just an extension of my "the cd's must be right side up in the jewel case" type OCD.

When cymbals...

Re: THE BEST KNOWN KIT THREAD!!!!

I agree with rendezvous about Keith Moon's set, it's very recognizable as Moonie's.

After that I'd say Ringo, just because of the swarm of popularity that followed the Beatles, and the mass...

Re: Triplets on a single peddle

I'm not sure about this, but I'm pretty sure you can combine heel-toe (for the first two hits) and the constant release technique (for the third one) to get a triplet. I haven't tried it, but I'm...

Re: 2 crashes, no ride?

Yeah, if it's unnecessary for you, then I'd say don't buy one just for the sake of having one.

Keith Moon, the opposite of what you all are saying, used only crashes and rides towards the latter...
