Re: Dented Shell

Your drum is perfectly fine and factory correct. Ask this question on the Vintage Drum Forum if you want a half dozen experts to chime in immediately and confirm it. http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/

Re: Instrument infatuation

I played a Yamaha SC Birch at a festival this weekend. They were in great condition. No duct tape holding the hardware together and relatively new, dent-free heads. No cymbal felts or sleeves...

Re: What do I buy and do?

Growing up I lived in four different houses with neighbors, and each time we moved in we just knocked on their door and let them know what to expect. It was never an issue. Hopefully your neighbors...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

I tinkered with the photo a little to try and eliminate any potential distortion at the edges. I don't have any photo manipulation software so I just used Microsoft Paint. I compressed the segments...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

Great point. Even if the blue kit has 10 lugs, as a 22 should, they're spaced in an entirely different manner than the champagne kit.

Edit: after looking at it more closely I don't think they're...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

Taking Mr. Wolf's advice, I went ahead and emailed the shop. I had been nervous about doing that because it's a vintage drum shop, so they know their stuff. If it was just a guy on Craigslist I...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

That's the thing, if it's really a 24 (with a rail) I'm ready to put my money down... BUT, that's if the price is right and I get the okay from my wife. I don't want to bug the guy with unnecessary...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

New thought!

The seam on the floor tom isn't perfectly in line with the lugs as it should be. It could be nothing, or it could be a second seam, which only an 18-inch drum or larger would have. ...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

I've seen that mentioned on other forums. The Supra on the left looks huge but it also seems to be set a little closer to the camera than any of the kits. Probably not close enough to the camera to...

Re: Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

I'm actually gonna make it worse. Look at the champagne rack tom. It's got large classic lugs, which should have about an inch of space between them on a 13x9. There's hardly any space between the...

Estimating Drum Sizes from a Photo

What size do you guys think the champagne bass drum on the end is? The seller has said the kit is a 13/16/22 but I'm almost positive that kick is a 24, and the floor tom might be an 18. I don't...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Man, try as I might, I can hardly see any pitting there. Is it even flaking? That's a great, great score. Congrats!

Re: If you had a drum tech, would it change your set-up?

Not at all. I use a one-up-one-down (sometimes two-down) with hats, a ride and a crash (sometimes two). I have no desire to add to that set up.

No, that means it's the surface that's the problem.

I'm late in seeing this, but Paul Simon was here. The show was great! Did you end up finding anything to do?

Happy John Bonham Day! Nearly 40 years after his death he's still the greatest rock drummer of all time.

Re: Nick Mason - Thoughts

I also love The Final Cut. It took a little time to grow on me as I was young and still only familiar with their massive hits when I got it, but It's a GREAT album. It's so emotive.
