Re: New Score off eBay

Congratulations on the purchase. I can't say I've ever played a set of those or been in a room of them being played. I've probably heard recordings of them and not known it...so I can't speak for...

Re: That Erskine kit at NAMM

Yeah, it seems because it's high end people think you can get away with it, like a neon yellow Lamborghini. I tend to go the way of treating it like furniture (my current set has the Nussbaum...

Re: Drum Building Zenith? Where to now?

I'm a big believer in the diminishing returns thing, but to make a comparison to cars, the best car in the world 50 years ago would get smoked by a mid to upper mid level car now, and at much less...

Re: New Tama StarClassic Bubinga setup

Congratulations! I've always thought Tama drums, especially their higher end lines, were beautiful. Your set is no exception. Anyway you could provide a better picture of the finish?

Re: That Tama Rockstar snare for 50 bucks

My old Tama Rockstar Custom kit came with a matching snare, which I believe was 5.5" deep. It was probably my favorite snare at the time. It was surprisingly good! Granted, I got it at the tail...

Re: New kit coming

How many kits does this make for you now, Dre? Didn't you just win one in a contest about 6 months ago?

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

Like I wrote earlier, I learn something new every time I come to this forum!

I did notice on their website a link to 6000 series hardware, but when I clicked on it, it either directed me to a...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

I ended up getting multiple quotes, and all but one were the same. The one that was different used to be the same when I requested one from the same store 8 months ago, but they increased it by 15%...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

So KHS is basically buying the distribution arm of Sonor in North America, not Sonor itself, right?

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

The floor tom certainly is ubiquitous from what I could find, but Lone Star Percussion is another place to seek a quote from! I got another quote today at the original $674...so either they haven't...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

FYI...the quote I provided was from 6 months ago. Just got an updated quote from the same dealer and it's increased 15% in 6 months! Add $100 to make it $778 now. My goodness! I'm hoping the...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

Thank you for weighing in KIS. Sonor offers a 14x11 in the Prolite series and I think I'm just going to cut my losses and get a new drum and try to sell my 14x14 floor tom. Part of me thinks I...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

And install a new set of reinforcement rings with the same wood the shell's made of? Cut the same bearing edge? Fill all the old hardware holes and drill new ones for the rack mounting hardware? ...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

I'll shoot them another e-mail if I don't get a response by next week. So you've dealt with them? I have to admit their site seemed a little shady, and when I clicked on the 'see us on facebook'...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

I did send a request for a quote and asked about selling the floor tom but haven't gotten anything back yet. The quote was from Memphis Drum Shop, which is where I purchased the kit from.

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

That's how it's currently set up, kind of; I have the 10 on a cymbal stand and the 12 on the kick. When I had 16" and 18" floor toms, that's how I had them arranged, except the 18" to the left of...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

I'd really be surprised if anyone offered me that much lol. I'm not going to post the number I have in my head as an absolute minimum, but I'd be smiling ear to ear if someone offered me $800 for...

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

I don't think anything is wrong with it per se. I just never played anything smaller than a 16" floor tom. I used to play two floor toms in an older project, but that was with a 16 and 18 inch set...

Sonor Prolite pricing?

Long story short, I bought a drum set I love but there's a black sheep in the pack: 14x14 floor tom. The kit consists of 10x8 12x9 14x14 16x16 and 22x17.5. I want to sell the 14x14 and get a third...

Re: Shoes and Gloves

Ha! Finally an endorsement for gloves! My hands sweat a lot, even when I'm not drumming.

Forgive the long response OP, but you asked for it! :p

Regarding gloves. I only used gloves when I...

Re: Torn calf muscle

Sounds like you should put a kick drum on your left foot! Or at least set up a bass drum pedal to develop some independence.

Sorry to read about the misfortune. I guess the silver lining is...

Re: Sonor Prolite Snare...

Whoa there! Hahaha. Not $180 for a prolite snare, $180 for the die cast hoops. I was debating on getting the prolite with the flanged hoops which sells for about $150 less than the model that...
