Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Oh well that's cool. I'm sure my OCD would find away around that, but at least you're enjoying it xD

Well, that is sort of personal perspective, it is also something that can change. What do you...

Re: When playing one up and one down...

+1

Though, the one thing I don't like about that is the distance between toms.

Re: Felt vs plastic

To me, there can be a huge difference between felt and plastic beaters. It all depends on how soft/hard, shape and the tension of the bass drum head. If your using really soft felt beaters it's going...

Re: Focusing on finger control or wrist control?

Let me just rephrase what I said. You asked what you should focus on more, fingers or wrist. I said fingers because it's less natural and harder to develope compared to wrist (imo). Basically I said...

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

+1
I also agree that a dynamic wouldn't work as well in the Tchad Blake method compared to a condenser. To whoever said you can get higher quality dynamics cheaper than condensers, yes, because...

Re: Tuning woes

My OPINION:
Well, if overtones are your problem, then coated is your answer. Clear heads bring out overtones while coated heads drown them out. Mute/muting is also a good idea like moon gel or just...

Re: Focusing on finger control or wrist control?

I agree that seeing a professional when you're first starting is very important. But a lot of drummers are self taught, I think if you absorb what knowledge you can and experiment, you can decide for...

Re: Spaun Drums?

Yeah I've heard of Spaun before, they're another popular custom company that uses Keller shells along with Truth. I've never played them before so I can't comment on their quality. From what I hear...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Ahh that's cool. When I finally got a second kit I wanted to do that but purple satin and green wraps don't look too appealing xD. That and I was sure they were different woods. Are yours different...

Future User (Tim Commerford's new band)

Haven't heard anything about this. I like that they're using that "dub step" fat snare sound along with electronics, on top of Commerford's bass lines. Thoughts?

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Yeah see all you need is some independent practice/training to get all your limbs comfortable again. You should of really taken advantage of being a drummer though by switching the set up. It's...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

@Brian I agree Brian singles, paradiddles and any independent exercises are really the best way to learn. I find simple and basic exercises such as 'eights' to be heavily useful.

@Chollyred Yes...

Re: Drum setup

I think the 13" is fine for the rack tom, then you could put the 14" on the left. Or just keep it around so you can switch between the two for different purposes. As for the snare, these are my...

Oh man there's soooo much to say about Greiner...his composing is just phenomenal as well as his personality. Well that goes for all the guys of ABR, probably the most humble guys I've ever met.

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

^Nice kit! I like how you have your two crashes attached. I tried doing that once for fun and it was pretty neat, makes a lot of room beneath the cymbal. I like cowbell and woodblock (I think) as...

Re: Balance point for playing heel up...

I have my chair raised pretty high, at least a 90 degree angle usually around 100 or 105. I usually press my beaters against my drum head for rest position, that use to help me keep balanced. But...

Re: question to bass drum slide technique users

The only thing that makes them identical is that they're both doubles or "diddle" techniques. I was saying you can use the slide technique for rlrl quadruplets and not as doubles and it would feel...

Re: question to bass drum slide technique users

Yeah the reason heel toe is such a disadvantage, I mean yeah you can learn to coordinate them for unnecessary reasons, but just stick with heel up/whatever standard technique. The slide technique is...

Re: Open Hand technique

In my opinion open handed playing is really only for comfortability. I started getting into it because it's a lot easier to hit rimshots and a crash on your left (without scraping knuckles/crossing...
