Re: Using a 10'' tom as main rack

Is it because a 10" rack tom and a 14" floor tom have clearer notes than a 12/16 combo?

I also find positioning easier with those sizes.

Re: Using a 10'' tom as main rack

I know this thread is old, but I'm having serious tuning woes lately on both of my kits. I can't get the 12" toms to sing a clear note. Always lots of overtones that you probably won't hear in a...

Re: How Does Your Bass Drum Sit?

I've been setting mine up to where it's more-or-less level with the bass drum pedal attached. That means it's not really that far off the ground in the front. The front lugs are barely above the...

Re: Yamaha Drums

I was typing on my phone and wasn't very clear in my last post. Sorry about that! I've tried every combination of SuperKick1, PS3 (coated and clear), and recently a clear EMAD on my Live Custom...

Re: Yamaha Drums

I recently put a regular old coated ambassador on the club custom bass drum with the stock PS3 front logo head (no port hole) and an evans eq pillow and it's really aggressive sounding at home with...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Yeah, I still have the Live Custom in black wood. I have the Coated G2s on that kit now, actually and they work better with those shells.

At this time, I leave the a Club a customs setup at home...

Re: Yamaha Drums

I was trying evans coated G2s on my Club Customs, but the tone was too dark and not at all vintage sounding. I went back to coated Ambassadors and am in heaven again. Love this set!

The Club...

I'm only laughing, because I have this "super fun" sickness too. :)

Re: Staining drum heads with coffee

The remo coating can easily stain, IMO. Even a moongel will leave a stain. Give it a shot and take pics!

edit - doh! I misunderstood. My bad.

Re: New Chad Smith Signature Snare

I think when people talk about seams in snare drums, they mean up and down which presumably affects the vibration of the shell. I'm not a physics expert or anything, but it makes sense that a seam...

Re: Dixon drums review

There is a store called Mozingo's Music in O'Fallon, Missouri that has a Dixon drum set in stock. It's marked down to something like $2,500!?!?!?!? I didn't pay much attention to it, though.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

I have a mint condition 24" Paiste Giant Beat ride cymbal that I love. But I'd really like to try the Paiste 24" 2002 "Big Ride" version and am curious if anyone would like to trade?

Re: Ever try to do s stick flip and have it hit you in the eye?

Just reading these posts makes my eyes water. I HATE things in my eyes. I get an eyelash on my eyeball and you'd think I was shot. LOL

That WOULD NOT be fun!

Re: Is It Just Me?

I have the same problem... I jump in head first with the brand I like at the time and obsess over getting more from that brand. It's silly, I know. But hey, it is what it is. We're all different....

Re: How to make my kick sound less boomy without using muffling?

I should've mentioned that I want as much "tone and fullness" as possible when the reso head is ported, so I tend to tune that up a bit. But when it's not ported, it's too boomy to me tuned at...

Re: How to make my kick sound less boomy without using muffling?

I think my definition of "boom" is different than others. To me, if the bass drum reso head doesn't have a mic port, tightening it adds more sustain and INCREASES the boom. Loosening it up makes it...
