Re: When the band you're auditioning for,..

Many times.

I've come to realize much of why I was rejected is they don't have their own (bleep) together and rejecting me is just an excuse to cover up their own issues.

In most cases, said...

Re: So, where are they built?..

Not sure about Yamaha, but I'd believe the rest. Add DDrum and perhaps some others to the list as well.

Many of the name brand low-end kits have strikingly similar features.

Re: Anyone covered Tom Sawyer on a small kit?

There is Bill Bachman's (tongue in cheek) rendition of "What if Tom Sawyer was recording by a Nashville studio drummer".

Re: Bill Ludwig III and new Ludwig kickstarter snare drums

I saw them at NAMM.

They exist.

But, really, nothing more than just another drum company IMHO. There was nothing that made them stand out in the sea of other companies trying to do the same...

Re: Pain in right shin while bass drumming

Seat height.

Either your seat height has changed without you realizing it, or you need to make a change.

Re: Weird perceptions

^ This.

Humans love variety.

Except my coffee better be dark and strong every morning.

Re: Jazz Drummer v Metal Drummer

Yes.

After video for "One" hit MTV, the influx of drummers at the drum shop I was working at who were buying wood beaters and Danmar bass drum pads went way up.

It seems every metal album of...

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

Obviously, there are many top-notch cover bands out there with skilled players. I know many players who had a very wide repertoire of songs they can reproduce flawlessly with no rehearsal at a...

Re: A shame, but long rumoured :(

Jasper arguably was one the best drum makers in history, and no one even blinked when they went under.

Gretsch gets sold to DW and people freak.

Rodgers brand makes drums that have nothing to...

Re: A shame, but long rumoured :(

Premier made excellent drums too, and well, no one considers them collector items.

Lots of small manufacturers out there who do or have made really high quality stuff and none of it become...

Re: What's the worst drumming advice you've ever received?

1 - Don't go to P.I.T. you sound like everyone else and won't be original.

Not only is this not true, it's ludicrous. It's just a school. They can't change your influences or who you are as a...

Re: When is a good time to quit a band?

To me, jamming with some guys a few times isn't a band yet, so there is nothing to quit.

Re: Forum Views Drum Gear vs. Forum Views Drum Technique..

This question has been asked numerous times.

Comes down to technique is hard to discuss in a plain text forum. Technique is something that really has to be shown. Describing it in words is...

No.

Though I have stacks of drum cases I've not used in years.

Re: Taking charge of your posters

I was taught photoshop in the mid 90's so I've been doing graphics off and on for years.

I'm no expert, but it has been a big help to bands, day jobs and now running my own business.

Re: Nick Mason - Thoughts

The difference is the Beatles would never have had Ginger Baker in their band.

The Beatles did invite Ringo to play on their various solo albums here and there.

You replied twice, a year apart, to the same comment. :-P

I don't think I'm to make it to this weekends show, but I have the 6th down in my Calander.

Re: A shame, but long rumoured :(

Indeed. The split from Yamaha seemed ill-conceived and rooted in ego more than a solid business plan.

Sakae as a stand-alone brand seemed doomed from the start IMHO.

Why? The problem is...

Re: Why would one need an Endorsement Deal?

Touring support is the primary reason big names want endorsements.

Most big name drummers have multiple drum kits in different parts of the word, even if the kits are identical with the illusion...

Well, the same goes for any well-known drummer (pre-youtube anyway).

If not for Rush, Neil Peart would be selling tractor parts in Canada.

And it also goes the other way: If not for being...

Re: So, This ever happen to you?

I am convinced seat gnomes sneak into my drum room and change the height and position of my seat.

They've been following me for years and years.
